The rumours were true.
Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are indeed joining Randy Jackson as the next judges on American Idol.
Ryan Seacrest introduced the two additions at a Press Conference saying, “We are looking for the next star in music. We usually ask, who will be the next American Idol? We never asked this question, who will be the next judges on American Idol?”
Randy Jackson, who told the crowd, “We found some unbelievable talent and I am calling season 10 the remix, baby!”
Aerosmith’s Tyler said, “[It] feels like the perfect feathered nest.
“It’s being a part of something much bigger than yourself. I want to bring some rock to this roller coaster.”
Lopez added, “I love you guys. I am so excited.
“It is about concentrating in the moment, do the best you can. Just live! Just live, it’s your moment.”
The upcoming season also includes a new in-house mentor, returning executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and new music partner, Universal.
Producers also said there are no plans for guest judges, no guest mentoring and contestants allowed to remain in their chosen genre. Singers will also be asked to move a lot more on stage.

fox should have monty burns as a guest judge and have an actual trapdoor on stage and big red button he can press on the desk
it could just work…
they need to just kill the show…
I think Idol without Simon wont work…
Add to that i can’t stand JLO 🙂
I like tacos and burritos?
It’s good to see Mitch Connor making a come back…
I Loathe the Idol franchise but dammit, with Stephen Tyler as a judge, I’m going to have to give it a crack! I’ll just FFWD through the performances.
I respectfully disagree, Todd. X factor is more about ego, and little about breaking new talent. Without Cowell, Idol may be more about singing and performing. There is no doubt anything that Cowell brings to America will work, for a while at least. X factor could be more interesting, but i frankly couldn’t care about the mentor and their competition.
Yawn. X Factor is a way better format – it’ll be interesting to see how Cowell goes with it in the US next year.
Singers will also be asked to move a lot more on stage. hahaha. Love it. Last season was a little boring, most just stood in the middle of the stage and sung.
It will be interesting to see the battle between Idol and The X Factor in the US next year.
