Altiyan went AWOL

"Has anyone Seen Altiyan. We have lost him," Ronan Keating asked via Twitter, as an X Factor contestant takes time out.

If it’s true it’s a bit of a worry….

News Limited newspapers today report that X Factor singer Altiyan Childs disappeared from not to be found until 5pm yesterday.

His disappearance caused serious concern for his mentor, Ronan Keating, who took to Twitter to try to locate his charge:

– Has anyone Seen Altiyan. We have lost him.
– He is gone awol. Please keep an eye out for him.
– Seriously He has disappeared.

He turned up about 5pm yesterday.

A producer said the singer had “taken some time out to be by himself and slept in a cave on Sydney’s northern beaches overnight”.

Despite the fact Childs put in a good performance on Sunday night, Reality Television is notorious for putting its subjects under enormous pressure.

Corrected.

  1. Marco – don’t try to defend the “talent” on the UK version this year. There are 3-4 decent performers, tops. I love the Aussie version, so I’m no X Factor hater, but even I am not so blinded by the show to say that the UK one is good this year… it’s not.

  2. I’m surprised some of you guys think there is less talent on the UK version. The UK version is so much fun to watch and very entertaining, and guessing a winner is difficult given how good so many of them are. This household is getting very bored with the Aus version and is recording it for the sake of seeing it through to the end now that we’ve invested so much time, but whizzing through most acts and sections of the program just to see who has survived. Maybe I shouldn’t even bother as I now don’t care who actually wins now Amanda’s left. Whoever wins will probably fade into the distance like the winner of the first Aus X Factor winner! Anyone remember his name? No, didn’t think so. 😉

  3. RichoTB, i agree people go on about how much talent there is on the UK version but i have never seen it myself. and the show is often regarded as the worlds most sucessful with 1/3 of the population watching the average episode. it does go to show without the talent you ca still have a hit show.

  4. The life and well being of any person is reason for concern…unless it’s part of a desperate set-up by an ailing TV show. If he was seriously awol, the last thing Channel 7 would want to do is worry the kiddies on Twatter.

  5. Are people forgetting this is Altiyan’s second bite of the apple? He was in a band that had some moderate success until it broke up. I believe their song was on the Billboard charts. I kinda like him but didn’t he learn anything from his first experience in the music business. Seems like a bit of a drama king. Slept in a cave? Really?

  6. Altiyan Childs is an excellent singer, of the stage at least whilst on camera he looks and sounds modest and he is not arrogant at all, which is a good thing. If Altiyan is to succeed in the music industry then he needs good people around him Ronan Keating is a good start. This does not surprise me that much after all he does seem more reserved then anyone else in the competition. Altiyan is a telent and should not be wasted, we dont want another Kurt Kobain but if he is not treated and supported correctly he will enevatably end up like Kurt, overdosing on drugs and dieing soon. Hopefully that wont happen but it only wont if again he has good people around him, both musically and non musically.

  7. Something tells me the final 2 will be Sally and Altiyan. I’d like Hailey to win though.

Hopefully Mahogany and Andrew get the boot soon…nothing grips me about those two.

BTW I watched the UK’s latest season (series 7)..its a load of crap. The only 2 decent constestants are Cher and Matt Cardle. The Australian version is a Lot better…our judging lineup and the quality of the contestants blows the UK version away. Ronan, Natalie and Guy > Dannii Minogue and that short old man

  8. yes I agree with you Salf about Altiyan and to some extent India Rose. The process of the singoff and being in the bottom 2 twice in a row is taking its toll on her, although she sang the proverbial out of Bitter sweet symphony, but yes she seems to regard herself above the process a little – but then the mentors build them up all the time, and the show format knocks them down again. India is related to a very well known session singer, so the expectation and hype is getting to her.

  9. HC, i agree that he does seem overwhelmed by it all. but i’d have to disagree with that he thinks he is better than everyone else. i think he is one of the most modest people on the show.

the same can’t be said for that India-Rose. i’d like to know more about her situation, there seems to be a distance between her and the other contestants during the Xtra Factor. and 2 weeks in a row we have seen her roll her eyes as other members are announced as safe for next week. last week for Mitchell and this week for Altiyan. and then she tried to put on the innocent sweet image. no wonder shes the only one that’s been in the bottom 2 twice.

  10. Altiyan is an interesting character and probably the one to win, or at least runner up. I am always fascinated by people who read and watch things they are ostensibly not interested in and then bag a show, a thread or a person simply because they support it. it may just be publicity, but as they say there is no such thing as bad publicity.

  11. Sounds like a SuBo style meltdown is in the works for this contestant. That is most definitely an odd way to cope with stress and alarm bells should be ringing for the producers. This guy’s temperament may not be up to the scrutiny and stress of a show such as the X-Factor.

  12. This guy is on the verge of a breakdown and should never have been put on the show. He quite clearly can’t cope under pressure and yet they put him in the spotlight for all to see. He can’t take critisism and thinks he’s better than everyone else.

  13. im now really starting to like altiyan but is there something not quite right about him ?.. if you entered into this competition surely you would know the pressures it would bring and if so you would most likely thrive on that energy but with altiyan it seems a bit different.
