Rob’s a bit of a Smart Ass

Remember game show host Rob Elliott? He's proving to be quite the success story.

Former Wheel of Fortune host Rob Elliott is becoming quite the success story.

Elliott, who hosted the Seven game show from 1996 – 2003, later created a board game by the name of Smart Ass, which has sold in the US, Britain, Spain, France and Germany. With a donkey on the box cover, the trivia game sees every player yelling out the answer as soon as they think they know the answer.

Now US television executives want to turn Smart Ass into a TV show.

The Age reports that Elliott is not interested in being in front of the camera and envisages someone like Drew Carey as host.

”I used to play Trivial Pursuit and never won – I hated it,” he said. ”I created a game I could win.”

Now there are ”Ass” puzzles, travel games, desktop calendars and T-shirts and Dumb Ass, a version with more pop-culture trivia questions. Elliott is working on an iPhone app and a third game.

Good luck to him. Reg Grundy is proof that game show hosts can do alright when they apply themselves….
