Blood Brother telemovie for Nine

Nine has a true crime telemovie in the pipeline on Jeffrey Gilham.

Scriptwriter Vicki Madden (Halifax FP, Stingers, The Bill and Lynda La Plante’s Trial and Retribution) has given an interview to ABC Radio in Tasmania.

Having moved back to her hometown of Launceston she champions the push for more drama for the Tasmanian industry. More power to her.

But she has also spoken about a new telemovie she has written for Nine, Blood Brother.

Madden says of her fascination with the crime genre, “It is sad at times, but I find the psychology of crime fascinating. I find myself telling people about it … and they’re sitting there looking at me and saying, ‘Can we not talk about this?’ So it’s a certain taste, I suppose. I would love to have been a criminal psychologist or psychiatrist.”

  1. Jeffrey is waiting appeal ! How can they let this happen before a judgement is passed ??!!! What an insane and unprofessional decision to air this before judgement is passed.

  2. Doesn’t this guy have an appeal pending ? How do TV Executives get away with producing such prejudicial material prior to an appeal ?

  3. More crime? God don’t the networks realise we are over that genre. Try something new and fresh for a change. Give crime a 12 month break and then try it again.

  4. Underbelly’s future will pretty much continue being in TV movies from now on. I can’t see anything else they could devote 13 episodes to. It won’t be Qld, as the senior writer Peter Gawler, sensibly ruled it out. At best, it’d make for an ok TV movie. There’s a couple TV movies they could do on other Melbourne characters that the first series ignored.

  5. Another true crime telemovie for 9? You’d think with all the upcoming Underbelly telemovies they’d try something else…
