Sister act Mahogany was eliminated in tonight’s vote-off from The X Factor, paving the way for a three way battle between solo vocalists Altiyan Childs, Sally Chatfield and Andrew Lawson.
The vocal troupe, mentored by judge Guy Sebastian, was eliminated via the votes from the viewing audience, instead of the traditional judge’s choice.
They had frequently been saved in eliminations, but tonight it was not to be.
As the girls as they finished up their time in the contest singing a rendition of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” both judges and audience applauded their talent.
On Sunday night Altiyan Childs, Sally Chatfield and Andrew Lawson will take to the stage for the final sing-off.
Performances will include the songs from the auditions, their mentor’s favourite song from the series, their own version of the song to become the winner’s single and duets with Jamiroquai, James Blunt and INXS.
Altiyan Childs is considered the front-runner in the talent contest.
The winner receives a recording contract with Sony.
The X Factor airs 7:30pm Sunday and Monday on Seven.

OMG mahogany is the best cant believe they left and why was andrew still in there he should have left weeks ago……. anyways go altiyan im happy for u 🙂
Why is Andrew still there. He should have been out weeks ago. Altiyan is going for the sympathy vote.
Mahogony were technically perfect… but lacked character. This is awesome television!
I wonder if Altiyan will Ever sing something that wasn’t a soft rock hit in the 80s? He almost did it with Blaze of Glory, but that was 1990 so close enough. At least he knows his audience I guess.
bahahahah. =)
@Dicko. I have seen bits of it and most of the time it’s some of the most cringeworthy tv that might as well have been produced by a first year film student.
@dave, you misspelled his name – it’s Bile, not Byle 🙂
X-factor(y pop) will not create a superstar. It will create another one hit wonder because the marketing will make it so, regardless of who wins.
Can’t wait til Sunday. I had no idea why Ronan chose Altiyan – but now I see what he saw and all of my votes are now for him. He is so versatile and is really the only one with the X-Factor. He can actually perform – and keeps me wishing his song would never end.
@mr Chandler – for someone who appears to
hate x factor with all his soul, you seem to have quite well formed opinions about the contestants… almost spoken like a true fan…. don’t be ashamed to step out of the x factor closet 😉
I was sure Andrew would have gone last night. Byle’s influence must be stronger than first thought. Mahogany were great. Altiyan for the win.
@Carta.. good to see someone actually referring to the current purchases of digital sales and not the outdated use of the word “record”. It seems Ronan Keating clearly is stuck in the past when he constantly refers to people buying “records” as they dont exist anymore.
@ressie.. altiyan is clearly a star in my opinion. He has single handedly saved this show with his awesome performances each week.
@ Mr. chandler: for once I agree with you 😀
@alfagirl – how can you not remember Hayley’s brilliant rendition of Whitney Houston’s “Queen Of The Night”? She and Altiyan were hands down the best performers that night. @reesie – a Top 10 song on the iTunes chart that stays there for a week is guaranteed a Top 10 position on the official Australian sales chart, since our charts are now based almost exclusively on digital sales (e.g. the #1 single for the past two weeks has sold over 20k per week, all of which were digital sales, while the entire Top 10 singles this week each sold over 10K, all digital).
Honestly none of the singers i have heard on this program are worthy of a recording contract. After seeing this series as well as the last couple of series of Idol, surely the well has run dry?Or are the real talents just anti manufactured? Or maybe it just doesn’t come across on tv as it does live (i guess not).
The song choices are always the same on these shows.
If i was to choose a “winner” it woud be Sally, she has something.Andrew sings the same boring style,Altiyan is a little too full of himself & his style can be heard in any pub or club every weekend & as for Mahogany, well their style is a dime a dozen these days.Wah wah wah wah wah….equals very boring, very American.
And this ridiculous tiresome wait to annouce the one to go only worked for Big Brother in my opinion.Fast paced is what i want. Can’t wait for next year…not.
Pretty decent top 3…although I would have preferred Hailey to get in over Andrew.
Its grand final time already! Wow
it’s a crock that andrew has lasted this far.
@reesie … I have watched every week and I don’t even remember Hayley. Love him or hate him Altiyan is hard to forget.
booo andrew should of gone he cant sing as good as mahogs
cant wait for the final on monday when Jamiroquai and Blunty perform with the finalists
Oh, and, cannot wait for the finale! As long as Andrew doesn’t win, i’ll be happy. 🙂
@reesie: I don’t think you realise just how popular Altiyan is. That man will sell many records, mark my words. 😉
worst. talentless. line up. ever.
Hayley and Mahogany were the Only people in that top 12 i could see actually doing something, even if that something was a top 10 song on the iTunes chart…..
10 months from now, (if) x factor comes back on, the only time you’ll hear the winners name is there.
all things considered, im putting Sally for the win.
