Monday night’s episode of The X Factor featured US pop star Ke$ha performing her No. 1 single We R Who We R with one of the show’s typically lavish production numbers.
But costumes for her ensemble army were changed after concerns their uniforms, with fishnet stockings and military caps, were too similar to Nazi uniforms.
“The costumes, which had been supplied locally, had the dancers wearing red arm bands and Ke$ha was concerned they looked like Nazi uniforms and requested they be removed, as this was simply not part of the brief,” a Sony spokeswoman has told news.com.au.
Seven yesterday acknowledged there were last-minute costume changes.
“It’s a 7.30pm show [and] a decision was made by producers to make their wardrobe appropriate for the viewing time,” a spokesman said.
One insider told the newspaper, “Channel 7 made them remove the bands in fear of outrage.
“They were on set with army uniforms complete with swastikas.”
Instead they had red $ insignias.

I gotta say those dancers were pretty fricking amazing, it wasn’t until halfway through that I realised they were blokes!
@ rob. Pity they didn’t remove all the other nazi insignia from the uniforms.
I was more concerned about Guys in heels thats just plain weird!!
The only real Controversy is Kesha and her terrible music!
It was actually Ke$ha herself who told the wardrobe team to change their attire, not Channel 7 or producers. Channel 7 are too desperate to care about respect.
“with fishnet stockings and military caps, were too similar to Nazi uniforms.”
Is this for real?
Hi David
Kesha also caused a bit of a stir when she performed on Sunrise, I caught a bit of them apologising for the raunchiness of her performance – it seems their email feedback went into overdrive (not least because men were wearing heels and stockings, OMG shock horror won’t somebody think of the children).
Of course every Nazi wore fishnets!
I had no idea the Nazis wore high heels and fishnet stockings. They must change the uniforms for every world war 2 movie i’ve ever seen.
does anyone remember Marilyn in the mid 80’s who had a hit with calling your name ?… well Kesha looks so much like her in this clip except the only difference being that Marilyn was a guy !!… and also well done to the dancer who towards the end held it together after nearly falling over.
I hear that the blackface Al Jolson number was cut too?
Removing the armbands really saved those guys from looking too fascist.
