Is Usher taking inspiration from The Simpsons?
His song OMG sounds remarkably similar to a riff sung by Homer Simpson in the 2003 episode “Dude, Where’s My Ranch?”
The coincidence was picked up by radio show Y101 Morning Showgram in Missippippi.
OMG, released in March, reached #1 in Australia.
But Homer’s song is better….

Seeing that it makes me wonder if the ‘h’ in Usher’s name is a typo.
Usher does a Homer Wow wow wow!
Usher makes a rip off Wow ohh wow!
Maybe he ran out ideas and thought this might work?
This is a joke, right?
Usher could copy anything and he’d still get so much money by duping the gullible masses who by his MP3s/CD’s.
Its a simple common melody.. its not that shocking.
So Usher rips off goats & Homer now? Who next!?
This is like Attack Of The Old People.
In any case, The Simpsons may as well have coined the word “derivative”.
Wow OMG does sound a lot like that song homer sang on that giant keyboard. But hey everything is plagiarized these days. I think if you paste homers lyrics with the track from OMG then that would be a hit. Maybe the simpsons can get Usher to do a guest star on the show.
Yet again I find the comments of aznfratboy quite offensive -douchebags!!! Some of my best friends are ushers and don’t deserve you disrespect. Raise your game fratboy!!
yep, Usher is awful. Bland and deriviative rubbish. This just proves it.
Seems like its just a coincidence to me. That being said, I couldn’t see how “Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree” was in any way related to “Land Down Under” – i guess it’s up to the lawyers to decide 🙁
Homer’s version is better but so is getting a red hot poker shoved up your back passage
Oooooomg, Usher is a complete waste of oxygen like most music ‘artists’ these days.
Homie you ‘de man! You rock!
If they think Men at Work did the same then you could say this is a similar case.
This was “number 1” in Australia? Oh dear.
I like the Homeric version. Greater subtlety and more intellectual substance than the Usher lyrical leer.
It’s Usher, he hasn’t had an original thought…
His song is ripped off from somewhere, if not The Simpsons, he’s ripped it off every single teenager whose used the internet since 2003, who’s typed “oooooooooooooooooooooomg!” into their instant messaging service, or into the body of a text message.
Thus my conclusion is, Usher is a douchebag, he cannot make a song with proper lyrics.
So the lesson for the kids out there:
i) Don’t be stupid
ii) The Simpsons despite its faults is still one of the best shows on TV.
Muhahaha! Usher your so Busted!!
Doh… I put the wrong clip in. Apologies. Now fixed.
As much as I despise Usher and his manufactured, and frankly just really bad pop music, ten seconds of a similar rhythm is hardly plagarism.
So Where’s Homer’s Riff? I cant find it anywhere. I Thought it was in the video.
Here’s the comparison video!

That’s a sign of getting old if you think that The Simspons version is better than the Usher version.
Homer is the King!
I think they are clutching at straws.
