First on Nine (and SKY and Seven)
Should Nine News really be plugging a story as "See it First" if the vision has already aired elsewhere?

Should Nine News really be plugging this story of the refugee tragedy off Christmas Island as “See it First,” when the vision has already aired on both Seven News and SKY News?
Checkout the telltale logos.
That said, there is of course a far more compelling story at hand here involving the deaths of 27 people. Let’s not lose sight of the bigger picture.

Well, the real news channel ABC24 actually had it – “first”.
id like to know if the person that shot that footage was paid for it and by who. or did he sell it to everyone. wouldve been a small fortune
ahhh nine thinks they rule everything but they dont – down in Melbourne they have promos saying “Melbournes best”, “Melbournes best reporters”, “See it first on Nine News”…And they still lose during the week to 7 News..Go 7
blatant lying but it is no suprise it is nine isnt it
There should be a law against false advertising.
Oh, wait…
They’ve been using that untrue byline for so long that poeple think it’s a joke.
They were remarkably quick to turn footage of this horrible disaster into an ad for their so-called news show! I guess with the FTA channels they still believe that “seeing it first” only applies to them, not pay TV.
You might be clutching at straws having another pot shot at 9 seeing Sky News have used the 9 watermark.
That is hilariously tragic on Nine’s behalf.
*awaits comment from Lucy*
They have “See it First” on all their news promos. I think you’ll find it’s just the slogan, and isn’t actually related to the story itself.
These so-called news services need to stop obsessing about who has what first or exclusively and get on with reporting actual news.
Ill be honest with you David, watching the two news services on Tuesday (the gym has multiple TVs so you can see a few shows at once) Ch 9’s news ran with the Karmien Chan muder updates, while Ch 7 ran with a story about Hugh Jackman getting a scratch. They are both as bad as each other, but I’ll take 9 anyday given the choice
Nine always seems to be getting caught doing this sort of thing.
then why did you bring it up David?
Indeed they shouldn’t, I saw that ad when the cricket was on and fell down laughing, a lot of folks in Queensland stopped watching Nine News when Heather Forde, Bruce Paige, Rick Burnett and weather guru John Schluter were axed from a perfect news hour
Anyone who watches Nine for quality news journalism these days is missing out.
Since Sky News is both run by BSkyB, Seven Media Group and Nine Entertainment Co, it makes sense.
But see it first on Nine, I mean Sky, no, I mean Seven
It does not make any sense, what are Nine trying to prove?
Channel 9 never let truth and accuracy get in the way of a good story.
Are you serious?????????
That See It First white strap with the time is put on all the afternoon news promos. It’s a tag line. At no stage did anyone try to imply that particular vision was exclusive.
Sad sad story and as usual Nine seem to think everything is there’s. No wonder Seven decided to put the only on Seven across its pictures because all Nine does these days is steal the footage and make it their own. Its a bloody disgrace.
Oh and don’t get me started on Richard Wilkins on Tuesday when Grant was invited over to Gayles car and then he barges in and takes over. He is another joke. Grant maybe should have stuck up for himself.
The whole Nine network and news is a complete and utter joke. They schedule shows and pull them. The programmer there must be on ADHD or something because its crazy.
Nine news Sydney is desperately trying to gain some advantage over Seven News but nothing seems to be working.
They have tried new sets, snobby accents and now this. “First on Nine”? I saw it first on Seven.
Yes the bigger picture is the tragic loss of life, in the quest for a free life. But that said seriously Nine what are you thinking? You’re not fooling anyone!
Good point David.
The whole “see it first” campaign angle kinda seems null and void now we have 24 hour news nets like Sky News and News 24. Not to mention newcasts at 430, 5 etc.
What about the vision Nine had with its First on Nine News all across the middle of the screen.
Our channels have become pathetic trash, one-upmanship bullcrap.
