Hey Hey sale leaves fans wondering

A huge sale of Hey Hey merchandise this weekend leaves fans wondering if the show's future has been sealed.

Tomorrow the Nine Network will detail its key programmes for 2011 at a sales launch in Sydney.

While there will be big news about new shows, media will undoubtedly be awaiting clarification on the future of Hey Hey it’s Saturday.

Whether or not it is a sign of what may follow, the show is having its biggest merchandise sale this Friday and Saturday.

The Hey Hey Facebook page announces “We are having the biggest sale of 2010 Hey Hey It’s Saturday merchandise. There are mugs, Plucka’s, T-Shirts and a whole lot more. These items will make great Christmas gifts.”

Fans on the Facebook page, where enthusiasm for the show helped lead to its return, are now debating if the sale is indicative of the show’s future.

The sale takes place Friday 3rd December between 12noon-3.00pm and Saturday 4th December 9.00am-12noon at 171 Stawell Street, Richmond. Items are discounted by up to 35%.

“If you can’t make it log onto www.heyhey.tv and purchase some of these fabulous items.”

  1. @Adam I don’t think Australia hates variety shows, its just we do not have much to like, the us has many more late night comedy whcih are a litte more polished then Hey Hey, I have n o problem with Hey Hey if it was brought up to date got rid of the same old jokes and had some fresh talent hosting it

  2. hello.i spoke with the hey hey shop staff saturday night.at the studio’s.and was asked if i could advertise the sale.i did so before the hey hey page did.anyway.to what i heard it will more than likely be back next year.the only reason they are having a sale.is like any other shop would for pre christmas sale.as the website is so far behind with orders.they have been inundated with orders.and are finding it hard to keep up.the trippett family run the shop.they are behind the show and you will see them in the credits.nearly every 2nd line.daryl and the show is very well liked by management of gtv 9..so i wish people would stop speculating.and await on the news from daryl.instead of gathering info and thoughts and posting speculation.we need shows like this.G.T.V 9 have revived a trend bringing back some old shows.soon young talent time is returning also.there is no way known hey hey will die.it may need to change a few things.but it will be back. as daryl said.just because G.T.V.9 Irichmond has been sold.does’nt mean hey hey has finished. see you back in 2011.Hey Hey Rocks. also plucka will be making an appearance at the sales..remember they are selling merchandise..not the set.props ect..

  3. Just cause a show is old and has been around forever doesn’t mean it has to go, The Late Night shows in America have gone for years and years!
Australians seem to hate variety shows no wonder we don’t have many here while America is filled with them we all seem to hate on them…. it was the same thing with Rove everyone wanted it to go away and then when it did complained we had no variety shows here!! God people will whine at anything if you give them half a chance!!!

  4. All you hey hey haters and wannabe critics can go and get…..off this page. I’m sick of it! Haven’t you got anything better to do that whinge?!Hey hey will be back next year. If you don’t like it don’t watch it!noone has a gun to your head to watch it! You know that red button on top of the remote? That turns the tv off or you can watch another channel but leave us hey hey fans in peace and you can go back to your rerepeated boring low brow two and a half men! Long live hey hey it’s saturday and daryl and ossie.

  5. Hey Hey is an Aussie icon, it should be heritage listed and never go off air!
The only change should be that it’s a monthly special every month of the year.

  6. It sounds like they just want to clear their stock for Christmas. 35% is not a huge amount – just like the sales in department stores. If, on the other hand, they were selling the Plucka Wheel…
