Josh Thomas apologises over “drunk Tweet”

Two TEN celebs have a big night out, a misunderstanding and a little Twitter rage.

“You know you’ve done something wrong if they put you on the front cover of MX,” comedian Josh Thomas said on his Twitter account, having blasted sometime TEN personality Ruby Rose after a big night out.

Earlier he had criticised Rose for ordering drinks at a bar and leaving without paying.

“So it turns out Ruby Rode ordered $610 worth of champagne without paying. I have the bill now. Turns out Ruby Rose is a c***. Surprise!” he tweeted.

But Rose says the bar offered to pay for the drinks and that it was a massive misunderstanding.

“I was pretty upset and embarrassed that he did that,” she said. “But it’s all sorted and everyone is happy.”

On her Twitter account she told one follower, “I would never ever do that hun. I pay for everyone always. There were 6 or 7 of us there.”

Thomas later Tweeted, “I’m sorry. I was really smashed. I told them you said they were on the house and they laughed really hard and looked at me sad.”

Both have appeared as Gen Y team players on Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation on TEN, and appeared on The 7PM Project.

But despite the apology, things may have gotten worse.

“Oh no! Just remembered I tried to msg my friend Shane at 4am at a gay bar and accidentally sent it to Shaun Micallef.”

That one may take a little more explaining, Josh…

  1. This story doesnt kinda make a lot of sense. The bar offered to pay for the drinks??? Apparently they werent offering to pay for the drinks at some stage of the evening. I wonder when they offered to pay for the drinks and what was the reason they offered?

  2. I’m with you Trix, life is too short for inanities. The cost of not endorsing or partaking in all forms of technology may seem as if it leaves us behind, but there are some things, i am quite happy to be a luddite about. It’s all about circumspection!

  3. @Mike Silvester, excellent point. I suppose I’m just bemoaning the dearth of insight and wit contained in most tweets (I’m looking at you, Messrs Warne, Rice and Hurley).

  4. Trix, I find it hilarious that you are saying you could care less about what people post on line and yet you feel the need to post your opinion also. : )

  5. I must have a serious time management problem because there just never seems to be enough hours in the day to communicate and hang out with the people I care about and like, let alone subscribe to others’ random dribblings … I honestly don’t get why anyone would choose to read the puerile and discursive thoughts of people they don’t even know than have a real conversation (and share a good bottle of wine) with somebody they do!

  6. i like josh thomas. yes i can see why some ppl find him annoying, but find eddie everywhere and kochie even more annoying lol. and just on a side note, i cannot believe how many ppl dont know he is gay… following fb and twitter it is obvious some ppl dont get out much! lol

  7. I am intrigued by Ruby stating that ‘she pays for everyone always’ but thought her bar tab was free? So you don’t pay you just bludge freebies!?

Isn’t her 15 minutes up yet!

  8. Technology is a double-edged sword. Ten years ago, if someone like Josh Thomas had got drunk in a bar and said something stupid, nobody but the people he was with would know unless maybe a celebrity reporter was also at the bar.

Five years ago we would also have found out about it if someone had videoed it on their phone. Now Josh can tell everybody himself.

  9. Seriously, Josh needs to grow up, and a lot.
I love Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, but refuse to watch it whilst he continues to be part of the show.
