The ABC is on the lookout for new projects in Western Australia.
It has joined with ScreenWest in announcing a $1.6million initiative aimed at developing original ideas for a series of factual programs.
Jennifer Collins, ABC TV Head of Factual said, “We are looking forward to commissioning a number of short series from the West. Up to 16 half hours in total, they’ll be stories that celebrate the unique WA environment – whether set in the desert, beach, bush or in a mine. We’re looking for larger than life characters – most importantly, we’re looking for series that resonate with family audiences. “
It follows the ABC announcing a similar initiative in South Australia late last year.
The factuals will air in primetime on ABC1 and ABC2.

How about doing a story on the 1950’s thinking of so many in WA, ie. no daylight saving, no foreshore development, no suburban infill etc. To many in WA don’t like change. I for one would like to see if someone can work out why?
