But what show do they really want?

Can you guess what shows the Network Programmers really want?

Today’s feature article concludes a series of interviews with Network programming bosses from ABC1, SBS, TEN, Seven and Nine*.

Each has spoken about some of their 2011 highlights, with particular emphasis on their first quarter offerings. They have been comprehensive and frank in their discussions, and taken the odd tough question on the chin.

All of them have been just as curious to read what their counterparts had to say.

No other media publication has been able to provide such access to all the decision-makers at this time of the year.

But there is one more question TV Tonight put to them all.

What show from another network would you like on your own?

Their answers will be revealed tomorrow, but today you are free to speculate on what shows each might have picked….

Hint: not all of them are necessarily “hit shows.”

Let the guessing games begin!

  1. I think Ten would want The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Underbelly, NRL, ABC’s Wednesday line up and The Amazing Race, Man Vs Wild, Top Gear and Bones.
I think 7 would want MasterChef, Modern Family, The Block, The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, The Simpsons and Neighbours (for 7Two)
Nine would want MasterChef, AFL, Modern Family, Rafters, The 7PM Project, Boarder Security, Bones and NCIS

  2. I’m pretty sure Nine would like the broadcast rights to the AFL and Seven would want the cricket. Sticking with the sport theme, Ten would prob be happy to have the V8 Supercars and I’d be happy with that too.

I reckon Nine and Ten would both like Spicks and Specks and poss In Gordon Street Tonight without even seeing how it rates.

The ABC would like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report back and SBS would like to have Top Gear again.

Ten would like The 7:30 Report with George Negus.

  3. I reckon Seven and Nine would probably want Masterchef, even if they don’t admit it. Ten may say they want something like Packed to the Rafters or any successful evening news program. 😛 I’d say SBS would want Top Gear back. Not sure that ABC1 would want anything from another network. They might say something like East West 101.

  4. ABC wants > Kath And Kim (back)
SBS wants > Top Gear (back)
    7 wants > Masterchef
9 wants > Anything and everything from 7
10 wants > Thank God Your Here (back)

  5. From:

ABC – Spicks & Specks or Angry Boys (new Chris Liley)

7 – Packed to the rafters

9 – Two & a half men ( cheap and rates well…for some strange reason)

    10 – Masterchef

Just a note, Ten or 11 rather, should launch a music only channel and put video hits on there. They are following Channel 4 in the UK with their digital channel E4 (with a very similar logo) and Channel 4 also has 4 music.
