What’s wrong with this picture from Today Tonight?

Ok it has Brian McFadden in it, point taken….

But the grey bar that is plastered across the screen was used to cover up the fact that the footage was actually featuring Nine’s Dimity Clancy.

And still it has “Exclusive” on it.

Seems it doesn’t matter how big your watermark is, there are still ways to overcome it.

  1. The 7PM Project tonight featured footage of this story, and showed the 9 vision untampered. The 9 and “9 News” logos were displayed clearly and no attempt by Ten to cover it up with childish blurring or logos. Because people do have brains and can decipher that footage sometimes comes from other sources and that blurring or covering up logos does nothing to fool anyone.

    And yet Channel 10 is the one crying out for viewers while 9 and 7 bash each other with this ‘tit for tat’ carry on and “Entertainment Tonight” reporting. Sad really.

  2. @ Joanne….IF I watch news….I prefer ch.7….so Negus at 6.30PM would appeal to me…..
    I use to watch TEN News @ 5….until they dumped Ron Wilson….Sporty guy Bill Woods is to dull ….for me….

  5. I don’t understand what difference it would make to have Negus & the news swap times. If you are going to watch them both anyway does it really matter in what order you watch them?

  7. i think it’s an industry inside joke- copying eachothers “exclusive” and badging it as their own. Everyone does it to everyone, so no one rocks the boat.

  9. Why do they do this sort of stuff? Why not just put in a caption saying “Video courtesy Channel Nine” and be done with it? The constant attempts to undermine each other don’t make anybody watch their shows, it just makes them look like children.

  11. And people think the watermark is bad, that grey bar is even worse! Couldn’t get their own footage. Their own star, nurtured in the nest with Sandilands, Cousins, Kochie, and Jones. I would have that they would be there to meet him at the airport and hold his hand.

    Personally, I have given up watching both these ‘current affair’ type programs….
    Tired of stories about neighbours at war….tight jeans and womens underwear.
    I would watch Ten…if the NSW news and George Negus were swapped….
    News at 6pm and George at 6.30PM

  13. I never watch channel 9 news so have never seen that ridiculous watermark across the whole screen before. Where will it end?

    Actually, just had a flashback to a Fast Forward sketch many years ago now. It was a press conference scenario with the logo’d microphones sticking up from below. The channel 7 one went down and came up with a bigger logo followed by channel 9 with an even bigger one. This continued (from memory) until 7 had a huge backdrop of their logo drop down from behind and 9 finished it off with a huge wooden logo rolling across in front of the camera blocking everything else out! Very funny. So clearly this has been going on for a long time.
