Charlie Sheen fired from Two and a Half Men

"After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen’s services on Two and a Half Men effective immediately."

Charlie Sheen has been fired from Two and a Half Men.

Reports from the US indicate Warner Bros Television has issued a statement saying, “After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen’s services on Two and a Half Men effective immediately.”

No decision has been made on the future of the show.

Sheen has responded by telling TMZ, “This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of the bazillions, never have to look at whatshisc*ck again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.”

The firing follows a round of headline-grabbing statements from Sheen about creator Chuck Lorre and his continued, reckless escapades with porn stars, cocaine and domestic abuse.

Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that if Two and a Half Men was forced to shut down permanently, it could jeopardise as much as $250 million in domestic syndication revenue for producer Warner Bros. Television and millions more in lost ad revenue for CBS.

In Australia the Nine Network continues to air reruns at 7pm except in Brisbane where it began reruns of The Big Bang Theory, another Chuck Lorre comedy, last Monday. New episodes of the show, of which it has a handful remaining, are still slated at 7:30pm Mondays.

Charlie Sheen’s attorney is already responding to his client’s termination:“We will sue,” Sheen lawyer Marty Singer said.

“It’s a matter of when. It could be this week, it could be in a little while. We’re in no rush. But we will sue.”

  1. I’m thinking now this was his plan all along, get fired so he doesn’t have to wear those bowling shirts, that makes sense LOL.

Last night I watched about 30 seconds of the show before going back to Friends on 111 Hits, far better show! (I’m in QLD for Friends is on 1 hours earlier here before anyone asks)

  2. Wow a year ago if you said that 2.5 men will be down in ratings, episodes removed and Charlie Sheen sacked you would never had believed it. This guy has just gone downhill fast and Im afraid the worst is yet to come.

I feel for the workers on the show who may now be out of work.

Ch9 will be spewing over this and will be in mourning after, but now they might realise that there are other shows around and 2.5 men isnt a show you have to put on 6 times a week.

  3. Who didn’t see this coming!, surely this is the end of this unfunny show (I have never watched a full episode & never want to), a big blow to Channel 9.

  4. Charlie Sheen is clearly mentally ill. His wild rantings and absurd delusions indicate that he needs mental treatment, not the admiration and kow-towing he fiercely demands from the rest of the “inferior” population.

Charlie Sheen has destroyed a highly lucrative career and made himself a worldwide laughing stock. I doubt any other producer will cast him in a show ever again.

  5. Good Riddance to the least original, least funny and most mean-spirited show on air for decades. This show appeals to the lowest-common denominator in every way, particularly anyone who is unable to think up insults on their own. Awful, awful show.

  6. 2.5 men could still continue.. The statement says Sheen is fired, not the show is cancelled. How easier would it have been to make the announcement that 2.5 men has been cancelled due to staffing and financial concerns?
I think Michael J Fox should replace Sheens character – maybe with a explanation that he gets ill.

  7. “…as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.”

I swear, trying to make sense of a Sheen rant is worse than trying to understand Sarah Palin and Pauline Hanson simultaneously.

  8. @Gil: lol 🙂

@tom: Err, let’s see. Paid millions per week, fails to show up for work, parties himself into a stupor, puts the rest of the cast and crew on hiatus, creates a reputation for himself that makes Tom Cruise look sane. I don’t think the “boss” is the problem here, somehow. But hey, if you’d like to try slagging off your boss, then going AWOL for weeks and showing up arrested and in rehab for drug abuse, knock yourself out, and hope you enjoy the dole queue 😉

By the way, a PDF of the actual firing letter is on TMZ. It refers to “incapacity” and “Mr Sheen’s ongoing conduct, statements and condition”. Game, set, match.

  9. Could you imagine any network in Australia doing the same thing – I can’t..

After so many indiscretions in any other country Sam Newman, Eddie McGuire etc etc would have been given a flick years ago!!!

I have a bet with a co worker that Brendan Fevola will be given a media job now that he has effectively been sacked Brisbane

  10. Hardly surprising – Sheen is clearly out of control and completely unreliable. To go into another year of production with him behaving like this would be a costly exercise. And seriously, tom, if Sheen really disliked the programme that much, he could have just quit. He seems to be the only person with such a hatred for Lorre, and it’s not like Lorre’s only ever made this program. I say good on Warner Bros – imagine putting up with a d***head employee for seven years… Though having said that, I don’t think Sheen was that bad in the beginning. Shame.

It’ll be interesting to see whether they end the show, recast the part or restructure the programme.

  11. i say good on charlie sheen, how would you like to put up with a d***head boss for 7 seasons and also how would you like to wear those bowling shirts, in all fairness it is a sad day because one of if not the best show on tv will be no longer and i will miss it.
