ABC acquires new factuals

The ABC picks up new factuals on life behind bars, repossession and drilling for gas in the Arctic.

These blokes look like they belong on the revamped ONE but they will be coming to the ABC in a new factual series about the men and women who drill for natural gas.

License to Drill is a 6 part series.
Canada’s Far North is a wasteland of snow and ice. But it comes alive every winter when teams of hardy, daredevil men come to drill for natural gas. The film follows the drilling operations in one of the last frontiers on earth, where men and machines are pushed to the breaking point – and sometimes break. It’s a dangerous mission and a race against deadlines, storms and the Arctic spring that transforms roads into swamps that can swallow a whole truck.

Also set for ABC are:

Repossessed
Night after night, they set out to take cars, trucks – you name it – back from debtors and return them to their rightful owners. They’re “repo men,” who work brutal hours and risk life and limb whenever they knock on a debtor’s door. This factual series takes us into the dark recesses of the U.S. repossession industry, as we accompany agents on their dangerous missions. It’s an occupation that calls for the patience of Job, the skills of a diplomat, and the brawn of a quarterback.

Hard Times
Filmed over several years, “Hard Time” goes behind the scenes of U.S. maximum-security prisons and immerses viewers into the brutal reality of life inside. Prisoners, guards, wardens, families – these are stories of despair and hope, truth and consequence that revolve around a massive stone-and-barbed-wire castle. A complete and balanced portrait of life behind bars, and a gripping introduction to a violent, dangerous society that’s a world of its own, with it own hierarchies, economy and rules.
