Returning: Dancing with the Stars

Seven has now confirmed, as expected, that Dancing with the Stars will return at 6:30pm Sunday May 8th.

It will feature new judge Joshua Horner.

“I am completely thrilled to join the judging panel. I am a huge fan of Dancing With The Stars and excited to be bringing my experience and energy to the show. My passion for dance is so consuming that I can’t wait to see what Aussie celebrities can bring to the floor,” he said.

The evening is now shaping up as a big night of TV.

Dancing will begin before MasterChef, but Nine is also airing In Their Footsteps at 6:30pm and the Blood Brothers telemovie at 8:30pm.

It stands to reason nothing will top MasterChef so it’s more a question of diminishing the gap. These all sound like serious contenders.

ABC1’s move to put Doctor Who on Saturdays may have been a wise move after all.

  1. Why does Ch-7 rest “Sunday Night” all the time. Mike Munro & Chris Bath are far better to watch at 6:30pm than “Not Dancing With The Stars”.

  2. I think Masterchef won’t be as popular this year. It will start out at around 1.4-1.5 million but will remain around 1.1-1.3 million until June/July when it starts heating up.

And this DWTS news is probably good for Bones/Castle fans who want their shows in consistent timeslots, and not bumped to 9pm, 10pm, and later.
