Seven dumps Mark Wilson as Dancing judge

Mark Wilson becomes the second judge to be dumped from the Dancing with the Stars panel.

Mark Wilson has been dumped from the judging panel of Dancing with the Stars.

Wilson, who has been with the series since it began in 2004, is the second judge to be eliminated following Paul Mercurio in 2008.

“I understand that TV shows have to evolve and I support the decision to recast the judging panel. It’s a great opportunity for the show,” he told News Limited.

“I remain 100 per cent behind the show and, I’m looking forward to series 11. This will allow me to concentrate on business matters that need my attention right now.”

Wilson (pictured, right) runs a dance studio in Melbourne.

Seven is yet to announce who will join Todd McKenney and Helen Richey on the judging panel.

The series is tipped to return in May.

  1. @garry and steve – thanks for clarifying, I appreciate it. I find the world of odds-on betting very confusing!

Edelsten’s medical certificate was revoked many years ago in NSW, I’m not sure about other states. From what I have read, he currently owns a practice in Melbourne, specialising in plastic surgery. I think he is the brains behind it, I don’t think he still works as a medical practitioner.

  2. @Allie LOL no, it’s gone down to 11-1 After the bet was placed. Odds always shorten when there is more money placed on a bet

@Garry i thought he had his medical license revoked?

  3. @ Allie, I would have thought so too, but apparently with bookmakers the odds at the time of the bet have to be honoured. Any bets placed since will be at 11-1 odds. I agree with you on a Manu/Brynn final, Manu will be very popular.

  4. @garry, if the odds on Brynn have dropped to 11-1, won’t he collect 11 million dollars? Edelsten has enough money to spend on voting to keep Brynn in the comp right up until the end. He could easily afford to have several phones on constant redial 24/7. I predict a Manu-Brynn grand finale.

  5. Dr. Edelsten has waged 1 million dollars on Brynn to win DWTS, at odds of 55-1. The odds have since dropped to 11-1. So if she wins, he will collect 55 million dollars ! Would be worth spending millions on sms votes.

  6. DBS, it won’t be Jack Chambers. He is the lead male in the production of Hairspray that is touring Australia at the moment. My money is on Jason Gilkison.

  7. They got rid of Mercurio because he tried to tell a World Champion that there was no tango in his routine. The dancers name was Paul Green and he is now the dance director of the show.

  8. Didn’t even know Paul had left!

I don’t watch this dribble of aussie ‘stars’. You can bet though Seven are now just cost cutting, this show isn’t getting the numbers it used to

  9. Considering this is due late May i have a feeling Seven might bring Bruno out from DWTS America. They would have had their Grand Final by then and in a way its the perfect fit. It is a shame about Mark but i guess these things happen. If its not Bruno then i reckon Jason Gilkison is the best bet for me.

  10. I find Todd entertaining, you never know what he will say next, and Helen is so regal and lovely. Helen is going to be beside herself with all the eye candy on this year.

  11. They’ll replace him with choreographer Jason Gilkison, Seven have been chasing Gilkison for years. Shame about Mark, he was far and away the best of the three. They should have dumped Helen or Todd.
