Bumped: Detroit 1-8-7

Seven moves new US crime series Detroit 1-8-7 to a later start, drawing upon another Criminal Minds.

You can’t just leave it there haemorrhaging…..

Next week Seven moves new US crime series Detroit 1-8-7 to a later start of 10:30pm. Last night’s double episode of Detroit 1-8-7 pulled 360,000, fourth in its timeslot. Next week’s planned double ep is just a single now.

In its place will be an extra episode of Criminal Minds. That’s two new Criminal Minds eps at 8:30 & 9:30pm.

Two more will follow on May 18 and 25 (repeats on the 25th).

Detroit 1-8-7 is the first of Seven’s new US dramas this season, now followed by No Ordinary Family.

  1. @Richard – Blue Bloods – I think you’re wrong, TEN has shown 12 eps and in the US ep 21 airs in a few hours pulling us 9 eps behind them. I don’t think TEN will be bringing the show back until the summer or if their new Friday night lineup fails again.

  2. Current season of Blue Bloods has finished and Aus. is up to date with all episodes, due for more towards the end of the year going by the web site

  3. 187 is the Californian police code for murder. Detroit is in Michigan. I know it’s become slang for murder thanks to films and gangsta rap from California but that still seems stupid.

  4. I didn’t watch City Homicide (not quite right for me) but I thought Seven were in error to dump it. I had intended to give 187 a look but admittedly there wasn’t a great incentive, knowing that it had already been cancelled in the US. The message to networks has never been clearer about not holding back on drama series – if you’ve got it, just play it.

I also really detest unnecessary double eps altho’ they’re fine if you need to catch up to a fast-tracked show because of a one-off event. Obviously premieres and finales intended as double eps are acceptable but, bizarrely, Seven have a habit of splitting double-ep finales over two nights – eg all six seasons of Lost.

  5. Here is an idea 7. How about an Aussie cop show. Oh thats right you already had one and you dumped it.

What made you think an american show would work. I chose not to watch it because you got rid of CH

  6. Why don’t they just show Criminal Minds:Suspect Behaviour? Personally i’m not a fan of the spinoff, poinless if you ask me, and there’s talk it could be axed anyway, but would make sense to put it after Criminal Minds.

Watched pilot of Detroit 1-8-7 ages ago and didn’t like it so was surprised Seven would even show it and doubted it would rate

  7. I missed the 2nd ep of Detroit 187. I can’t keep up with all the changes. I taped the first ep and saw the start of the 2nd because of the 10 minutes I added to the taping time of the first because I don’t trust the stated end time. Should I now extend that extra 10 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes in case an extra episode is added? I was in two minds about watching this show but decided to give it a go and liked it. I should have known that liking it would come back and bite me.

  8. Firstly, last night’s ep was new, there was a coding error that listed it as a Rpt. I have been advised that looking ahead there will be a new ep / rpt ep at 8:30 / 9:30pm. But the amendment that was sent must have had errors in it, because it doesn’t indicate rpts until May 25.

  9. What do they expect, of course a double ep ending at about 11:30 is going to have a lower average number. The problem with this show is Seven should have started it sooner, now viewers in the know, know it’s not likely to be around much longer in the US so are less likely to invest the time in watching a cancelled show.

Also when is Blue Bloods coming back to TEN, or do I have to go else where for both of these shows?

  10. I’m not surprised by this move. I watched the first episode hoping it would be in the same class as The Shield or The Sopranos but was very disappointed. I even watched the second episode, hopeful it would improve but it just wasn’t up to scratch. Very cliched and outomes you could see coming a mile away. Scheduling a double episode is really an effective way to test if there is a loyal audience and in this case, the poor ratings justify the decision.

  11. It’s been reported elsewhere that the second ep of Criminal Minds will be a repeat…so who to believe?

Blue Bloods has been replaced by Law & Order on Fridays.

  12. Completely agree re: double eps. Hawaii Five-0 also did a double and is yet to recover from it. A 2hr finale or any reason it may fit a plotline is fine, but not procedurals just to fill a slot.

New CM at 9:30 is a waste. A repeat would rate just as well and I’m sure at some point when the season is over 7 will need an episode for a more important 8:30 slot and regret wasting them now.

  13. Agree – there is absolutely no point to playing a double unless it is a well estabilshed regular show that had to miss a week due to an unforeseen event happening – like rolling news or the like.

  14. I hate when channels play double episodes of shows. Ten did it with Blue Bloods and it killed it – seems the same thing is happening here. Oh well back to recording it I guess….
