Shameless (US) coming to GO!

GO! has begun promoting the US season of Shameless, starring William H. Macy, as "Coming Soon."

GO! has begun promoting the US season of Shameless as “Coming Soon.”

Set in Chicago the US adaptation stars William H. Macy as Frank Gallagher, father of his dysfunctional family.

UK creator Paul Abbot is credited as an executive producer on the US version.

There were mixed reviews for this version, but it will be interesting for fans of the UK original to compare.

  1. The posts above could become self fulfilling prophesies. Those programing tossers promote early, then monitor the vibe. Bad vibe = no show, or less advertising. Less advertising = smaller fan base = cancelled show. I still haven’t seen a start date…..

  2. I’m looking forward to it.. pity its not SBS that picked it up… at least they would have screened it properly

no doubt it will be nowhere near as good as the UK version… but for the big fans of the show it will be awesome to see a different version … even just for comparison sake…

like watching the Turkish version of the nanny on sbs LOL

Sorry for advertising on the website David…
I’m taking bets now for two categories:
    1. Will they actually show it?
    2. If they do, how long until they move it to a later timeslot or remove it from the schedule? [quote]

    1. Yes
    2. 2 weeks

    GO! is a huge disappointment.

  4. What’s the point, it will be ‘not-even-close’ to the excellent British original.
And after all GO is channel 9, and if it doesn’t rate on day 1, it’s the end of it.
I agree with Qubec, If it does ratea little, it will be moved to different timeslots.

  5. Have seen this already and it is “Shite” compared to the UK version. There is only one “Frank Gallagher”… for those that have seen the UK version.

  6. I think GO! should have a cancelled due to our ever changing definitions of this channel and it’s target market marathon weekend. They could air Vampire Diaires, The C-Word, Gossip Girl, Justified and so many more shows.

  7. It would have to be mighty good to even come close to the original. I just don’t think the yanks can replicate this sort of realism drama and humour, especially if it’s in a trailer park setting, no matter how good Bill Macy is. I still haven’t forgotten the US version of Kath & Kim.

  8. Just great. I think we all know what is going to happen. I’m with Ryaneco – it’s prob not worth getting into as it won’t be allowed to build an audience. This would be a much better fit for Eleven.
