Lara Bingle off the dance card

Dancing with the Stars eliminated Lara Bingle last night after judge Todd McKenney again criticised her performance as 'dull.'

Dancing with the Stars eliminated Lara Bingle last night after judge Todd McKenney again criticised her performance as dull.

“You’re dull, you don’t have the `X factor’,” he told her.

Bingle has been regularly questioned over her commitment to the show and the time devoted to rehearsals.

“I know we’re all busy, but everyone’s busy,” McKenney recently said.

“If you haven’t got the time, get out.”

Two weeks ago she missed some rehearsals due to illness.

But there was also friction between the judges last night as they disagreed over some performances.

The Seven show may have helped her show another side to her personality, given most of her headlines have been related to her private life.

“I thought I would go in the first week and every other week has been an absolute bonus,” she said.

Next week one more contestant, Manu Feildel, Haley Bracken, Samantha Armitage or Damien Leith will be eliminated before the final on July 9th.

  1. I am late with my comments, but was appalled at last weeks show. Samantha Armitage cannot dance and should not be in the semi final, she should have been voted off weeks ago, it is agony to watch her week after week, so i don’t watch her any more. Lara bingle on the other hand has danced beautifully and I have watched week after week her being criticised unfairly by the judges. She is as good a dancer as Haley Bracken and should have made the final. I have been an ardent watcher of this show but think this will be my last. Very disappointed. i think Tod and Helen have been quite arogent in regards to Josh who I think makes constructive comments, not personal ones.

  2. Todd McKenney’s nasty little comments made me feel sorry for Lara Bingle which is something I never thought would happen. I even tried voting for her but for some reason I was unable to. McKenny is passing judgment on people’s personalities…. What a joke. If any of these contestants actually had the “x-factor” they probably wouldn’t need to try and market themselves on DWTS.
Samantha “the dancing bear” Armytage is in the top 4!!! You have to be kidding.
Any credibility that this show had is now gone.
DWTS reminds me of the Ben Elton book “Chart Throb” The winner is picked on anything and everything other than what the show is supposed to be about.

  3. Todd McKenney wasn’t as supercilious when he was found wasted in a gutter in recent months as he imposed in his personal assault on Laura Bingle. The pen tapping and pointing by McKenney was demeaning and to Laura Bingle’s credit she remained composed and showed a lot of style and class in handling the barrage from McKenney. The show clearly demonstrates by McKenney’s vitriolic attack that you can polish a turd but at the end of the day you will still be a turd.

  4. There is a TV god, thank goodness the two people on the show designed to promote channel 7 personalities, should at least stick with those who have achieved something.

Lara Bingle has done nothing substantial since she did a nude photo shoot when she was a teenager, those photos, while easy to look at have more personality than the body is on screen. Let her gold-dig go incognito and disappear into an archive somewhere, even Paris Hilton has a personality.

So now both gold diggers have gone from the show, those who watch won’t have the time to make tea, as they could when Bingle and Edelstein, were on screen.

Combined they have as much likeabilty as Germaine Greer, she is at least intelligent.

  5. Samantha Armytage was awful she cant dance at all , shes so rigid.I cant believe she is still there but then again id like to know how many viewer votes constitutes part of the total score. It seems rigged to me and shes a channel 7 personality.
David would you know how it works at all.

  6. @daveinprogress, I agree with you, Damien Leith will win this series. I think Haley is the best dancer, but Damien just has something about him that is so damn nice. I predict Damien to win, Haley as runner-up and Manu third.

I like the frisson between Josh and Todd as well, though it is really obvious that Todd does not like having his thunder stolen by Josh. The look on Todd’s face whenever Josh is speaking would curdle milk at 1,000 paces.

  7. I’m gonna sit on the fence on htis one – i thought Todd was quite transparent in his dislike of Lara – justified or not, but there is something unlikeable about her. She feigns nervousness, but she exudes that it is all beneath her. To her credit she handled Todd’s verbals with just the right amount of grace and ego. Todd has always told it exactly as he seeis itr, and i fathom there is much behind the scenes with Ms Bingle, that others have alluded to, that evidently Todd is reacting to. I like the frisson that Todd and Josh add to the series. It would be painfully banal with the oh so nice jock Dan and the predicitable quipping Kruger without the uppity judges. Damien for the win!

  8. She’s very lucky she lasted this long. The models are usually good dancers but never do well. Jennifer Hawkins, rachael finch, suzi wilks, Gabrielle richnens, and emily Scott were all eliminated in the early weeks.

  9. Whilst I agree with McKenney in that Bingle has a flat screen presence and she simply does not have the elusive “X-Factor”, I thought the way he spoke to Lara last night was appalling. To her credit, she handled it very well, but it was a very unprofessional performance by McKenney, he could barely conceal his contempt for her. As well, his reaction to Samantha Armytage’s gag about pretending her partner was George Clooney was way over-the-top. It was done lightheartedly, for God’s sake. Take a cold shower to cool off, jeez. A very nasty season, this season. I’ll be relieved when the damn thing is over. Not a good look for one of your flagship shows, Seven. Todd and Helen are waaaayyyy past their use-by date, though Josh has really grown on me and I enjoy his critiques the most.

  10. How on earth the public puts up with the fiery Todd McKenney on Dancing With The Stars is beyond me. His wafting hands waving belies his vitriolic comments and to me he’s the most frustratingly annoying person on television. He dances in shows, but has little else to give him the over-swollen head. Why can they have male judges on this show?
