Better Homes and Gardens: July 15

BH&G steps up the DIY content with a Renovation Challenge and a cash contest for viewers.

Better Homes and Gardens is tapping into the renovation wave (and in fairness it’s always had DIY segments) with a “Renovation Challenge” and a cash contest for viewers.

Better Homes and Gardens has found this country’s best weekend warriors – talented DIY-ers who can make a big difference to their home in just two days and on a strict budget of $2,000.

Armed with the cash and a DIY tool kit, six teams of intrepid renovators will show Australia what they’re made of, giving parts of their own homes a much-needed facelift.

Viewers will vote for their favourite renovation and the winning team will receive $10,000.

Plus, everyone who votes has the chance to win a share of $30,000 – all with thanks to Spotlight.

To kick off the challenge this Friday, Team Clissold from Brisbane transform their covered outdoor area into an Australiana-themed bar – with a little advice from DIY expert, Rob Palmer.

Keep watching over the coming weeks to see:
– a family of five turn their muddy garden into a functional entertaining area;
– a creative couple makeover their boring patio into a beach-themed haven;
– a pair of school teachers replace their unimaginative backyard with a magical kids play area;
– a young married couple change their lifeless deck into the life of the party; and
– new parents ditch their old junk room to build a stylish nursery.

It airs 7:30pm Friday on Seven.
