Ellie eliminated in MasterChef battle against Alana

Ellie Paxton-Hall has been eliminated from MasterChef Australia after a battle against Alana Lowes.

Ellie Paxton-Hall has been eliminated from MasterChef Australia.

The 21 year old student nurse from Queensland in a battle for survival against Alana Lowes.

Earlier a teary Dani Venn had yielded her Immunity Pin to avoid being sent home. That sent Alana into the cook-off which saw both women asked to revisit their worst dishes.

Both sought to improve on their dishes but both still had flaws in what they plated up.

Ellie had to redo her Spanish Invention test from early June when she made stuffed capsicum and caramelised
oranges. Alana tackled lamb cutlets and fennel salad, and spiced poached pear with orange anglaise and chocolate ganache. But Wwile the judges applauded her ice cream, Ellie failed to impress with her eggy
crème brulee.

Ellie had survived a string of elimination challenges, but tonight fate was not on her side.

“I was a little bit of shock and it was such a bizarre situation because you think about being eliminated so often that when it happens is really weird,” she said. “The sadness was mixed with a sense of achievement
and my highlights have been meeting all these fantastic people, cooking in professional kitchens and doing the team challenges – the whole thing was such an adrenalin rush.”

Earlier today the official MasterChef site spoiled the outcome by accidentally uploading the episode in yet another blunder by the show.

Remaining in the contest are Alana Lowes, Dani Venn, Michael Weldon and Kate Bracks.

I understood that but this is an elimination, the rules should be equal for both parties. How can it be fair for one to cook twice the dishes in just over half the time?

  2. I agree 100%! Its just as much a game of strategy as skill, and I’m glad Danni didnt bow to emotion just because she felt bad for Elana… thats the whole idea about immunity and fair or not, everyone knows the rules, if you dont use it, youre just stupid

  3. I’m glad Dani decide to use her pin because it’s a competition and if you have that pin wouldn’t you used it.
Everything is about yourself when it comes to competition and that is part of life.

  4. A good result…I mean, they really can’t vote for Alana, it wasn’t her fault she was there in the first place because Dani got selfish and used her pin. Hope Dani goes next, its called KARMA. It will come back to bite you.

  5. I’d like to understand the fairness in Ellie being given 75 mins to cook one dish while Alana had 45 to cook two. Very very strange. Thankfully Alana won or I’m sure the unfairness of different cooking time and number of dishes requested would be questioned. Keep it fair producers, you’ve lost this household next year after this year’s joke.

  6. It’s great to have favorites but this isn’t all about the best cook. Neither of the first two winners were the best in the kitchen but season 1 sure had amazing cookbook sales. I’d expect all involved to be doing their darndest to get Kate across the line……. mum with young family = great post show sales.
    just saying….

..Ditto.. although it’s clear now for next year the judges should really stop the other contestants giving hints from the balcony. Shut them up already!!!

  8. I totally agree that Dani should go! I’m so glad Alana didn’t get out. I reckon the judges are biased.. i mean, how is it a challenge to beat Eamon?? And for Dani’s cake to get a 9? That’s ridiculous! She just cries too much – sympathy tears I bet..
I’m really rooting for Alana though.. but anyone But Dani, will make me happy.

  9. I would have loved Dani to have taken the challenge she deserved to be in after last nights horrible effort. Can’t wait for her to go, can’t stand that she cry’s all the time!

  10. Well done Ellie, but I just got sick of her failing badly in challenges, getting into elimination rounds and Then deciding to cook well, thereby shafting someone else who probably deserved to be there more. The inconsistency was her downfall – go Michael or Kate for the title!!

  11. It was sad to see Ellie go. She had an infectious personality, but unfortunately her cooking was weaker than all the other contestants. Keep going Ellie, she has the will and determination to do well!

  12. Kind of sad to see Ellie go because now it is going to get all serious, she brought a little touch of crazy chaos to the show but it is the business end now.

If i was Dani I would have used the pin too !
