At Home with Julia cast

Update: So who has been cast cast to play Wayne Swan, Kevin Rudd, Tony Abbott, Bob Katter -and even Alan Jones? Check out the trailer.

So who else has been cast in ABC1’s new At Home with Julia comedy?

Here’s the list according to the ABC including with all their cheeky descriptions:

Kevin Rudd played by Paul McCarthy (Comedy Inc. – The Late Shift)
Paul Keating played by Jonathan Biggins (STC Wharf Revue)
Tony Jones played by Jonathan Biggins (they obviously ran out of money)
Wayne Swan played by Alan Dukes (Beneath Hill 60)
Bob Katter played by Drew Forsythe (freaking STC Wharf Revue again)
Rob Oakeshott played by Jim Russell (Comedy Inc. – The Late Shift)
Tony Abbott played by Nicholas Cassim (Tough Nuts, All Saints)
Alan Jones played by Geoff Moxham (in his first, and quite possibly last, TV appearance)

Oh I so hope this works…..

The “political satire / love story/ Federal Police surveillance target” will have a swift turnaround, to keep the material as relevant as possible. It will premiere on Wednesday, September 7 at 9.30pm, replacing Judith Lucy’s Spiritual Journey.

There are just 4 half hour episodes (if it looks good on spec can they boost the output?).

Leading the series as Julia Gillard in The Lodge is Amanda Bishop (STC Wharf Revue, Double Take, Penelope K by the way) with Phil Lloyd as Tim Mathieson (Review with Myles Barlow).

Bring it on.

  1. Loooooooooooooooooooooool
Great show but sad how there will only be 4 eps
Abc Please make more @ home with Julia
Is keven Rudd playing himself i mean realy the guy who plays k.Rudd plays him perfectily

  2. Cant wait for this. Love pollitical satire. As Rutzie said Paul McCarthy is a very good and obvious choice for playing Kevin Rudd. I wonder if Terrase Rane will get a look in as a cameo here and then that would work perfectly. This show has the potential to be very good hopefully it does become very good.

  3. I’ve seen Amanda Bishop’s playing Julia Bishop in a comedy sketch show, and she really wasn’t very good. I enjoy characterisations that are close to the mark, but she is nowhere near it.

  4. @WayItIs huh? Kalowski did Comedy Inc Late Shift, didn’t he? Which was great.
@Paully Think it’s written by Amanda, Kalowski and Phil Lloyd together.
