Returning: The X Factor

The X Factor returns next Monday night and its audition episodes continue across three more nights.

As has been widely tipped, Seven will launch The X Factor next Monday night at 7:30pm.

The audition process will continue next week at 7:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The show has already lined up some big guest stars including Leona Lewis, Good Charlotte, Jason Derulo, The Veronicas, Darren Hayes, Sporty Spice Mel C, Wynter Gordon and Beyonce.

The new judging line-up of Mel B, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Ronan Keating and Guy Sebastian have toured the country to find Australia’s brightest new singers and it all kicks off Monday with the amazing, inspiring and sometimes hilarious audition process.

This year’s series of The X Factor sees not only an all-new judging panel but some of the world’s biggest music stars helping guest judge and mentor the contestants. Joining the show are music superstars Leona Lewis, Good Charlotte, Jason Derulo, The Veronicas, Darren Hayes, Sporty Spice Mel C, Wynter Gordon and a special appearance by the one and only – Beyonce!

This year the rules have changed and The X Factor is open to singers 14 years and above – either solo performers or groups. Once through the final audition process, the four judges take on mentoring roles and performers are split into categories – Boys under 25, Girls under 25, the over 25s and the Groups.

During the audition stage, all four judges work together to unearth Australia’s incredible new talent. Then comes Boot Camp where the judges are given their category to mentor and the contestants are put through their paces. From there, the top 24 contestants are off around the world for the Home Visits where they are whittled down to the 12 best performers ready for the Live Shows.

7:30pm Monday, August 29 on Seven.

  1. Ooh thanks for that tidbit Guy! I hope it wasn’t a typo! I think Monday/Tuesday would be a way better fit – the Tuesday results show before Rafters will go gangbusters!

  2. What a waste not to at least promote it off the back of Australia’s Got Talent, if not launch it.

And stupid lowering the age to 14. They did it in the UK one year then rejected most appicants as too young. Think Simon has knocked it down to 12 in the US – how is a 12 year old supposed to cope with the week in week out structure of the show.

  3. watch out for a hissy fit in the gold coast auditions. i was on the bus headed home from football. i over head a lady talking about her audition and apparently she didn’t get accepted and she told the judges off and said she was a karaoke champion somewhere. i laughed when she said it. they might not show it, but they do show the bogan acts a lot

  4. cant wait, but hope its not a sunday regular and monday because Mastefchef juniors will be on at that time in september on ten, so Ch7 better either place it on wed&thurs or tues&wed cant wait for this season looks great!

  5. In terms of timing, the show is coming back at the perfect time. Reality TV is on the rise again so I really feel this is the right time for it to shine. I genuienley hope the show takes off this year. There’s nothing on air that comes close to rivaling the production values and the names involved. I think they’ve made all of the necessary changes for it to work. I can’t wait.

  6. @Jerome

Being one of the many viewers last night watching Seven because i am not a block or underbelly fan, Seven had a lot of X Factor ads last night. Along with Wild Boys and Rafters its basically all they were advertising last night when it comes to Seven shows.

  7. The promotion has been so small this year, there’s just been one style of ad with the judges talking to a camera for about a month and still on low rotation. I’d have no idea the show was only a week away.

Last year there was atleast 15 different high-budget ads airing months in advance on high rotation.

  8. Big question i have is where will Seven slot this for its regular timeslot? I can’t wait. Mel B is going to be great to have on board. Its going to be bigger and better this year i feel.

  9. Suprised the show reduced the age to 14. Would’ve thought if anything that the age should be increased to 18 or something because I highly doubt 14 year olds can handle a lot of the negativity that may be placed upon them on sites such as facebook and twitter.

  10. Finally, something to watch on free to air TV. Although I must say I did like the original judging panel with Kyle and Natalie Imbruglia. Not completely sold on Mel B and Izzy from Neighbours
