The Renovators, Modern Family update

Update: TEN changes its mind yet again on Modern Family and Renovators.

After The Block finishes next week TEN will flip The Renovators back to 7:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Modern Family (new) will air at 8pm Tuesdays and (rpt) Thursdays.

Not such switcheroos are helpin’…

UPDATE: Or to put it another way…. no it won’t.

  1. I think the renovators is a really good show (not including the how to classes), bad move going up against the block which was already 3/4 through it’s season with a fan base that has been watching since day 1.

    When the block finishes people will give the renovators a proper go, if this combines with the renovators showing a bit more actual renovating instead of white room challenges every night I think ratings will improve greatly.

    7.5 out of 10 with much potential to improve as we get to know the contestants on a more personal level and we see more of the houses been renovated.

  2. @ Luke You’ve missed the whole point. Yoir grandfather might have checked the Tv guide and saw that Modern Family was on at 8pm, but TEN actually showed it at 7.30pm. That’s why we missed it.

    The newpaper guides for that day, even the Ch10 website had it down for 8pm, half an hour after it actually started

  3. I watched about 30 minutes of the Renovators last night, and it wasn’t actually that bad! The judges seemed like they knew what they were walking about, and I liked the challenge of them creating different rooms.

    That said, I doubt this will get a second season unless figures pick up in the next 4 weeks

  5. Out of all the years executives have been working at TEN… none of them had the hindsight to see going head to head with The Block would’ve been a bad move? Now it’s all trial by error

    To think there are programmers at Free to Air Networks getting paid twice or even triple than that of rocket scientists is just incredible….

  6. I love how people are still bitching on here about it flip flopping schedules… Yes, Channel 10 made a mistake starting The Renovator’s too soon. Atleast they’re trying to cover themselves and keep it away from The Block- and once its over, they’re clearly putting it to 7:30 to try and gain some of those hungry-for-renovation- block fans.

    Also… no one that I know complained or even noticed the schedule change this week. They knew Modern Family was on Tuesday night. They checked the tv guide that night and found it was on at 8pm. Its really not hard to miss… Even my 82 year old grandfather found out about its move that night… (Yup, he loves Modern Family haha!)

  7. Terrible. Who is making these decisions? They should have just waited until Masterchef finished and started on the end of that and into its timeslot. What Ten have done/are doing is just ridiculous and hasn’t helped the show at all

Total and absolute kneejerk programming all because they jumped the gun and started the Renovators too early … if they’d just had a bit more patience and used the finale of Masterchef as a lead in, viewers wouldn’t be snarling in frustration at the flip-flopping currently going on. It doesn’t show much confidence in the series, either, when your basis for programming is in reaction to what another station is doing.

    Whatever happened to stable programming? Ya’know, the thing that gives people confidence in the network?

    I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep up with all these changes soon… let’s hope they stick to it this time!

  18. Too late, have stopped watching Ten completely, grab any shows of interest off the net now. Have enough problems to deal with on a daily basis, without putting up with their programming shenannigans.
