2011 MTV EMAs: nominees

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars lead the nominees in the 2011 MTV EMAs.

Nominees have been announced for the 2011 MTV EMAs with Lady Gaga leading the pack with six nods, and Katy Perry and Bruno Mars following closely behind with four nominations.

Adele has been nominated for three awards, with Justin Bieber and Thirty Seconds To Mars also up for three.

Aussie singer-songwriters Sia and Gotye are competing to represent the Asia-Pacific in a new World Wide Act category. Fans will be able to vote for an artist or group within five different regions (Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America, Africa/India/Middle East and Europe). The nominee from each region with the most votes, to be announced the week of 24th October, will then battle for the World Wide Act distinction.

Also new this year is the Biggest Fans award, which will be awarded to the most passionate fan base for a particular artist.

Australian fans can vote at asia.mtvema.com

The 18th annual MTV EMA will broadcast on MTV Australia Monday, 7th November at 4pm AEST.

  1. Deed : I very much like Sia but I think the track she does on the Guetta album is ruined by his tired Ibeefa-Ibeefa-isms. Her work with Zero-7 was much more satisfying.

  2. What a depressing line up of nominees! Sia, Arcade Fire, Theophilus London and the Beastie Boys all deserve kudos so good luck to them but as for the others…sheesh!
I’m currently listening to the David Guetta album for review and it’s the aural equivalent of Human Centipede-style defacation being forced through the ears.
