Cleo first to leave X Factor

It's never fun being the first to go, but singer Cleo Howman suffered the ignominy of being eliminated on The X Factor last night.

It’s never fun being the first to go, but 25 year old singer Cleo Howman suffered the ignominy of being eliminated on The X Factor last night.

Howman was beaten by 23 year old Jacqui Newland in a choice that was left to the judges. So often in these shows, the female audience ends up eating their own….

“It didn’t come as a shock after last night’s performance. I got overwhelmed but it’s not going to stop me. I still believe in myself. I have to thank Natalie, she’s been an amazing mentor,” said Howman.

Howman had struggled with her song on Monday night, missing the opening bars of her track and last night wasn’t able to impress the judges enough to survive.

But her mentor Natalie Bassingthwaighte told her the world was her oyster.

“It doesn’t always turn out how you plan but remember Jennifer Hudson didn’t win Idol and look at the amazing things that happened to her.”

  1. @ Craig h, If the G force theory is correct, then how the hell did Altiyan win last year. I can’t see gays or grannys voting for him, or girls for that matter.

  2. Hi Craig,

Im gay and its a little known fact we have better taste in music. I liked Cleo, but Jacqui is the best in the comp..

Its the teen girls voting for all the untalented boys in the comp.

  3. She looked like she had trouble again with her earpiece last night – towards the end of the song she was holding her ear and looking around.

Shame, I thought she was the better singer – Jacqui’s song annoyed me on monday night and last night I thought she just screamed!

  4. Um… Jennifer Hudson lucked out with Dreamgirls (good thing too, anything that takes the spotlight off Beyonce. Getting off track) Counting they’re chickens a bit too early yet, me thinks.

  5. Dicko on idol once said to do well, u need ‘G-force’ – gays, girls and granny’s to support u, and he was spot on. Unfortunately this lends it’s self to ‘pretty’ but talentless young guys ( like Johnny Ruffo) doing far better than they really deserve to.
