Ellen Pompeo wants to stay on Grey’s Anatomy

Meredith Grey may not yet be done with her Anatomy but Ellen Pompeo says "no-one has asked me."

Further to the story that the Grey’s Anatomy contracts for Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh and Justin Chambers set to expire in May comes the news that Ellen Pompeo is interested in staying on.

This is despite saying a year and a half ago she would finish the show when her contract was up.

“I was invited for eight years — that was my contract — and no one has asked me for a day more,” she now tells TV Guide. “I know [creator] Shonda Rhimes has said the show will continue, but I wouldn’t presume that they want to continue with me. You don’t get dressed for the party if you don’t have an invitation.”

“I would love the opportunity to discuss it,” she says. “I would never turn up my nose at Grey’s. As long as the stories are honest and truthful, and Patrick [Dempsey] and I feel there is material for us to be passionate about, it still beats a 9-to-5 job any day. If I hear from the fans that they want us to keep going, then I would continue because we owe them everything.”

With other cast members potentially leaving she tips, “It might be an interesting story for Meredith to have to deal with losing Cristina (Sandra Oh).”

  2. I would love patrick dempsey ellen pompeo sandra oh and justin chambers to stay on because they are the show honestly I don’t think if they left id watch the show any more

  3. Hey when is greys returning, been watching all the old eps cause i miss it bein on, i reckon they should bring back izzy for a couple of eps to stirr things up a little with alex lol true greys fan woop woop

  6. Well I definitely won’t be complaining if she stays. I have been a die hard fan since it began and would hate to see the main characters replaced – as has happened with other long running shows such as ER. Time will tell…
