The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency update

Heads up. For the next two weeks The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Compass & The Next Big Thing are starting earlier.

More annoying changes from ABC1 that will keep viewers of The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency on their toes…

For the next two Sundays the show will premiere at 8:20pm not 8:30pm. Of late ABC1 has been playing The Gruen Pitch as a filler after its 50 minute Grand Designs (or Grand Designs Revisited if we’re going to get technical).

From October 16 when Grand Designs is replaced by Wide Open Road, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency reverts to 8:30pm once more.

Sunday, October 2
8:20pm The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency
9:45pm Compass
10:50pm The Next Big Thing

Sunday, October 9
8:20pm The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency
9:45pm Compass
10:20pm The Next Big Thing

ABC1 also advises on Thursday, October 6 Crownies will begin at 9:25pm. All other episodes will remain at 9:30pm.

  1. So they want less viewers? Some of your viewers might have wanted to flick over from SBS or other channels that end at 8.30pm. I’ll admit it doesn’t affect me but one day it might and that’ll mean I’ll miss out on ABC programmes. I don’t think it’ll just be me. The irony is I want to watch the ABC on Sunday. They often have a million viewers from the main five capitals. So I think it affects a lot of people. I just wish they’d also fix ABC News 24 between 7.30-10.30pm, if they have an hour programme, too. As it’s the same problem. Although I did catch the 8pm News on the channel as I couldn’t see anything earlier. So I’m very glad it’s there. But the point is how many viewers do they want to miss out on? On a Sunday?

  2. ABC think that Ten’s evil programming habits have softened up viewers sufficiently. No, they haven’t!!!! Thanks for the heads up though, I’m enjoying this show.

  3. This very old, very soft series is a 730 show at best. Sorry Brendan Dahill you have really messed this up. You should have put The Slap on in the 830 Sunday slot. You need to make these choices by watching the drama and knowing and respecting your core audience.

  4. Seems the ABC is not only poaching Nine’s promotions people but also poaching their programming people too, or at least Nine’s erratic programming methods… Seriously.. starting a show at 8.30pm, then 8.20pm for a couple of weeks, then back to 8.30pm? Surely there is something that can fill that ten minutes to have this show start at its pre-advertised time so it is at least consistent.
