Jump the Shark: “In its initial usage, it referred to the point in a television program’s history where it has “outlived its freshness” where viewers feel “the writers have run out of ideas” and that “the series has [lost] what made it attractive.”These changes were often the result of efforts to revive interest in a show whose audience had begun to decline. – Wikipedia.

I dont think anyone is saying the term “jumping the shark” is an internet invention. It was coined when Fonzie an episode of Happy Days, actually jumped over a shark in a tank on his motorbike, which was the point where the show died.
the term “jumping shark” was around long before wiki, long before the www.
it was so bad … i thought the laughter was canned.. until i saw the audience at the end. I channel surfed between Come dine with me and GNW. I got more laughs out of Come dine with me!! So very disappointed in GMW. Dont think ill be back !!
terrible..in addition, can they please stem their gillard “the disgrace” loving, abbott hating crap on the show…the public hates labor, hates glllard, get with the program GNW losers.
I too was one of those who switched off. Good News Week was based loosely on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You which has been running since 1990. If they want to revamp it then why not make it more like the successful original format it was based upon?
I like Good News Week normally, but didn’t find this funny. Mainly because the show had no structure whatsoever and was just dozens and dozens of random gags about American pop singers interspersed with poor sketches.
Also, shouting doesn’t make a joke funnier, unless you’re Arj Barker.
Terrible, bring back GNW. I wish networks would stop stuffing
around shows and formats that work.
For my 20 cents worth, I enjoyed it. Far better than the Ben Elton show and I also enjoyed the political jokes. Looking forward to next weeks episode.
i fell asleep towards the end of it – it was that boring please bring back the old format, dont think i will be watching next week
I actually quite enjoyed it!
Sure it has some kinks to iron out but all it all it was a funny, clever show.
Props to channel 10 for giving i sketch comedy another go
I can’t believe people thing that GNW was unscripted and ad-lib. Parts of it may have been, but the majority was painfully scripted. I cannot stand Paul Mc Dermott, imo he is the most annoying person on tv.
The attraction of Good News Week was its unpredictability and the tangents on which six diverse talents could take it. Good News World lacked that essential quality. If it survives in this format please let’s not sink to the depths of parodying other networks’ nonsensical crime shows and concentrate on the satire which this group of talented performers could deliver if the structure allowed.
I don’t think it was all that bad – I’ve missed decent sketch comedy. Kudos to the gang for trying a different format. The Playschool Julia / Tony sketch was a highlight! But the original one hour panel format was better.
Major disappointment!!!
Terrible, woeful and uninspired..
and that stupid puppet.. enough Arhhhh!!!!
A show like Good News Week could never run It’s course , thats the beauty of It , they reflect on the past weeks news events which gives the show heaps of new material to work with , plus It gives a chance for international and local comedians to have some TV time .
I would prefer If they just stuck with GNW instead of Good News World, however unlike the majority , I will give the show another chance next week .
jumptheshark.com was one of the best websites ever. So damn funny, I used to bust a gut laughing at the posts there. I am still morning the fact that TV Guide killed it off.
The best part of GNWeek was the cast interaction! We wanna see Paul being mean to Mikey, and Mikey picking on Pauls height or how hairy he is. That’s what makes it fun!! Sadly missed 🙁
I forgot it was even on last night but I kind of remember the jokes about Prime Minister Gillard or should that be Pinocchio they used to make on the old version.will tune in next week.
Don’t consult wikipedia.
The definitive guide to television on the internet is TVTropes:
tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JumpingTheShark
“Jumping The Shark is the moment when an established show changes in a significant manner in an attempt to stay fresh. Ironically, that moment makes the viewers realize that the show has finally run out of ideas. It has reached its peak, it will never be the same again, and from now on it’s all downhill.”
Had actually wanted to consult the Jump The Shark site itself, but TVGuide bought it and killed it.
Is everyone here serious??
I couldnt stop Laughing… hahahaha Moummar qhaddafii was the best and the entire time their paying out julia gillard and tony abbott LOL
And even the underbelly scenes were hilarious
it was way better than good news week and they did the best job
they won their timeslot so i guess we will be seein this mroe often
The only thing i didnt likewas that purple randy puppet he is a bit too much but still funyy, and akmal needs more acting classes but he pulled off qhaddafi
You guys…panel shows are overr and boring and exhausting, worse than reality tv.
This show was new, unique and much funnier
cant wait for next week!!
see ya later Haters
i dont care i loved it and cant wait for next week
This was worse or at the very least as bad as Ben Elton Live.
They have destroyed their brand in the process too!! Hahah channel TEN

😉
I fully support everyone involved in the project… but it was awful. I’m with you Brandex!
I liked Good News World. It was good – but I loved Good News Week better.
I want the game show format back. That was way more fun.
I got 8 minutes into it and couldn’t go any further.
I’m sorry, but faux pas Mr Mott…
