Here’s a glimpse of US series Magic City, the with a brunette Jessica Marais in the cast (that’s her by the pool).
The period series stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural) plus Danny Huston, Olga Kurylenko, Steven Strait, Christian Cooke, Kelly Lynch, Seymour Cassell and Michael Rispoli.
As Frank Sinatra rings in a new year in the grand ballroom of Miami Beach’s most luxurious dream palace – the Miramar Playa – its visionary leader, Ike Evans, must deal with the mob, his complicated family and a city in the midst of dramatic change as Fidel Castro takes control of Cuba, just 200 miles offshore. By day the hotel at the centre of Magic City is all diving clown acts and cha-cha lessons by the pool, but at night Miami Beach reveals a darker truth.
It will air in the US on cable network Starz.

Gosh people are so cynical and critical it is amazing. I hope all of you are as hard on yourselves on a daily basis in your own fields of work. How can you tell from the trailer what her accent is like, and whether the show will or won’t be any good? Good on her for doing something new and different. We love you Jess!

@ Steven Guy – I agree with you: “to accent it up is an acting skill……..” now I’ll ask the question another way….why is her American accent so fake???

To play an American and get work in America is a really big deal for our local talent so they have to accent up, it’s an acting skill !
Not bad yet another ausome show by the Starz network. If it comes to FTA i will definetly watch, has a touch of Mad Men about it, i like these period dramas mainly because i am too young to have lived it so its a good way to gain some knowlege into how it used to be.

From what I can find out it will be a bit like Mad Men in Miama but with gangsters.
Good cast, but it’s all a bit Boardwalk Empire isn’t it?
