Upcoming ABC1 comedy Outland is set to have its World Premiere at the Seattle Gay & Lesbian Film Festival later this month.

The comedy about a group of friends in a gay sci-fi club features Adam Richard, Christine Anu, Ben Gerrard, Paul Ireland, and Toby Truslove. It is produced by Laura Waters (Angry Boys, Summer Heights High, John Safran’s Race Relations) of Princess Pictures.

Earlier this year Waters told TV Tonight that despite the comedy’s upfront nature, at its heart are a group of likeable friends.

“It’s mostly politically incorrect stuff. There’s a lot of frank, gay-life stuff. But I think because it’s truthful it’s fine. It will probably be quite confronting for a lot of people, but hopefully a bit confusing, because you’ll think ‘Oh no, I get but I don’t normally hear that being talked about on television,'” she said.

Along with Woodley, the comedy was promised for 2011 by ABC1 but so far no airdates have been confirmed.

Outland co-creator John Richards will be attending the two screenings in Seattle.
