Renewed: Sons of Anarchy

Season Four begins in Australia next month, while Season Five gets the greenlight in the US.

FX has renewed Sons of Anarchy for a fifth season.

The acclaimed drama will have 13 new episodes of the biker drama. The fourth season in the US has averaged 5.8 million viewers.

FX Network President John Landgraf said in a statement, “Everyone at FX is very grateful to Kurt Sutter, his many writing, directing and producing collaborators and his masterful cast for making such a compelling and beautifully crafted show.

“It is no small challenge to bring the themes of a great, ancient play like Hamlet into a wholly original television setting and to tell this complex story in a way that is both riveting and accessible to a broad audience. The fans know how beautifully SOA meets this challenge, and we thank them for their loyal and passionate viewership.”

Season Four begins in Australia Monday November 21 at 8.30pm on Showcase.

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed Sons of Anarchy on Channel One on a Wednesday night. Couldn’t wait to get home from work to watch. One of my favourites. Having withdrawal symptoms now as been a long time waiting for a return. Was wanting to know if the next series will be returning 2012 on Channel One in Australia as I don’t have paid TV and I really miss the show.

  2. This is my favourite at the moment and one of the most fast moving dramas I have ever watched.
Strangely the first season was a little slow paced and I am glad I only started watching season one while it was in its third season, reason why is because I knew it got better and may not have watched it otherwise.
The point I would like to make is regarding a suitable ending and the frenetic pace that season four has achieved gave the impression it is gaining momentum for a rapid climax.
If the plot is to follow “Hamlet” to the end as has been suggested in a Ron Perlman interview, I would have thought this would have been a good time to finish at season’s end.
Confirming a Fifth season I would imagine it will have to take a completely different direction at some stage to avoid just being one big kill fest.
