Rumours of a shake-up of Sunrise have returned, this time joined by talk of changes to The Morning Show and Today Tonight.
The Sunday Telegraph reports that Melissa Doyle will shift to Today Tonight, with Matt White and Kylie Gillies to front Sunrise, and Samantha Armytage to join Larry Emdur on The Morning Show.
David Koch is reportedly set for a primetime role under development for 2012.
As part of the sweeping changes, the newspaper also claims Seven tried to lure Today’s Georgie Gardner and that new producers are being sought for both Sunrise and The Morning Show.
Seven News boss Peter Meakin denied the changes, saying of the Doyle rumours: “Mate, I thought she was going to Sunday Night, isn’t that the rumour? I have not been in any meetings last week (regarding Sunrise), she is not going to Today Tonight. If there’s an announcement to be made you’ll be the first call we make.”
A senior Seven source also told TV Tonight there were no plans to change to Sunrise team.
Earlier this month Melissa Doyle told TV Tonight, “I just hate people thinking I’m leaving and I don’t want to be there. Because I do want to be there. I love Sunrise. I’m not leaving, I’m there to stay.”
Kylie Gillies also talked down similar rumours last month, saying “I am very happy where I am on The Morning Show. I love my show, I love working with Larry. Very happy in my space.”
Last night on Twitter, a Sunrise producer Tim Davies also said, “The dawn of a new era as Sunrise breaks up’!!! WTF?! The headlines tmrw ARE NOT to be believed.”
I guess one day they will have to prove true…

Seven would be completely nuts to break up Larry and Kylie.. however if Kylie ever did decide to leave, Sam would be a great replacement
I doubt Mel would be a good fit to host Today Tonight. Just saying.
I really don’t care either way if they break them up, keep them together or put all of them in the Big Brother House. What I do care about is that once again, Newspapers (Telegraph) put a reported, non factual as yet, non news story on the front page of a paper. Maybe on the front page of the TV guide but that’s about it.

Correct, with the exception of the spelling mistake – ‘painfull’ should have only one l.
They would be morons of epic proportions to mess with The Morning Show & the strange hold it has when it’s on. That said the sooner they get rid of Kochie the better.
I can only shake my head if they actually break up Larry and Kylie from the Morning Show.

As for Georgie Gardener.. I quite like her as do Nine I think. I can’t see them giving her up without a fight..

David it is disappointing that you printed the irrelevant and made up ramblings of the Tele. 7 would be suicidal to make such wholesale changes.
However Karl to TenNews could be the big story buried amongst the decoys.
I agree with Paul if Sunrise is going to finally get rid of Mel it should be so Natalie Barr can take her role. There is something down-to-earth and straight-shooting about her. These days I only watch it when Nats in the seat and Mel’s on holidays. But why they’d want to separate Larry and Kylie I don’t know!!

The Sunday Telegraph need fining for making up these lies. Its complete fabrication because after all they are News Limited and Murdoch is apart of it. Sorry but its not happening.

ABC news breakfast gets my vote for half of the week. These guys have been around for a long time, so there are gonna be rumours until ….one day there will be a change……but it is anyone’s guess when that day will come…
something needs to be done at 7, Sunrise has definitely became stale, and familiarity breeds contempt with viewers, just the nature of the beast.
Great plan. Can’t stand Kochie and Mel and Nat Barr should be replaced with Jess Rowe from Weekend Sunrise, Sunrise will be more enjoyable to watch again.
Anyone got the feeling the Seven is like a house of cards right now, the wrong move the the run of ratings wins could come crashing down. I’m hoping 2012 brings on more competition from 9 & 10.
There is greater concern at Seven about 5.30 weeknights slot than this re-hashed Sunrise nonsense.
I really hope that any eventual change offers Natalie Barr a promotion. I really think she should be the next cohost of Sunrise or TMS. I love Samantha Armytage but Nat deserves a shot!

So many rumors something must be on the horizon though with today hot on sunrises tail such a drastic change could really kill sunrise especially with Ten also bringing in a new breaky show, not that it will be much if a contender imo
