Rove LA: Oct 3

Guests for Monday night include Anna Farris, Daniel MacPherson and Kevin Smith.

Last week Rove LA came in for some criticism for its ratings performance, but the numbers that were published averaged the audience across all of the replays, which was pretty unfair.

Pay TV’s model of course is not comparable to Free to Air’s.

The numbers for the first week averaged 134,000 for the first broadcast in metro + regional audiences, while the top Non-Sports show was 142,000. Last week it was 74,000.

Guests tomorrow night include Anna Farris, Daniel MacPherson and Kevin Smith.

Anna Faris currently starring in the new romantic comedy What’s My Number?, reveals that as a kid she had a pretty active imagination and regularly pretended to appear on talk shows with her orthodontic retainer that she believed spoke to her and wore purple gloves for four months in fear of being framed for murder.

Australian native Daniel MacPherson in LA for the audition circuit and who can be seen in the feature film The Cup, talks about being unconscious during hosting a live program and shooting sex scenes for television.

Kevin Smith has spent nearly twenty years as a writer/director making films such as Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl, Zack and Miri Make a Porno and his newest film Red State. The controversial film maker is not backwards in coming forward about his advocacy for smoking weed, suggesting his productivity has gone through the roof since he started smoking it.

The one hour series also provides viewers with Rove’s take on the LA way of life and brings a weekly slice of Hollywood taking you beyond the tourist traps to discover why the phrase ‘Only in LA’ was coined. This week Rove visits the largest outdoor fair in the world – the LA County Fair, where he is shocked to discover some ‘only in America’ culinary delights such as deep fried Kool Aid and chocolate coated pickles. Rove also heads to Hollywood Blvd, and explores what Americans know about Australians.

8:30pm Monday on FOX8.

  1. And while we are at it, can we get someone in to teach the female Foxtel voiceover artist how to pronounce peoples names? It’s “FAH-ris” not “FAR-is” – this isn’t the first time she’s mispronounced names either.

  2. It’s an entertaining show, everyone I know is of the same opinion. Didn’t really like rover before, or like his old show but find this to be good.

If he can keep interesting guests, then I can’t see why I won’t be watching.
