The current affairs bingo card

Clueless bogans, bras, plucky battlers, money saving tips, psychics - check out this bingo card of story ideas for current affairs shows.

I’m not sure what George Negus will be doing with his spare time after this week but he might like to while away the hours playing on this bingo card aimed at A Current Affair and Today Tonight.

There are some pretty amusing observations about their favourite content, including:

– Story about bras / swimsuits / underwear that are mostly shots of models wearing not much.
– Story about plucky battler who beats the system. Any system.
– Clueless bogan rails at authority figure or institution.
– Story asking if you are really getting what you pay for?
– Someone says “It’s Un-Australian!.”
– Thinly veiled racism disguised as concern.
– Host nods seriously and says “Interesting / Worrying” stuff after story.

They did overlook the entire grocery / supermarket / taste test and the red light camera / speeding fine / parking fine stories, but apart from that it’s spot on.

It has been circulating online for a few months but kudos to “Engineroom” who came up with the idea.

You can check it out here.

  1. Failed to mention:
A] “Exclusive”! That’s the one where ACA thinks TT has none of the story and visa versa. I’d just realized this and, wondered why no one here said this yet?
B] The never ending “Supermarket Wars”, with no winner in sight.
C] People who plead “Please do not go to the authorities”. Last week some illegal international student said the very same @ Box Hill Centro for ACA! Those relevant authorities, may have been watching!
D] Copying and pasting of footage / imagery, be it their in house or external.
E] Repetition of stories from a short while ago!
F] Playing a story, then editing or photoshopping it. I.e: “Stranger Danger” was a story on TT last year about watching out for your kids, in places like Maccas and shops. but by Xmas they re-played it only to add Xmas to the lines.
G] In plugging their own shows, such as “The Block” on ACA.

I’d go on but that card, had said more than enough!

  2. Media watch tonight shon another light on Today Tonight and the total fabricated tripe they dish out.The people that work on them must have hides like Rhinos,I’d be embarrassed to look in the mirror each morning if I was a so called reporter working for ACA or TTN.
