Arrested Development for 2013

Arrested Development's return now has a firm deal for new episodes in 2013.

Following on from news that Arrested Development would return before the cameras comes confirmation that Netflix, an online movies channel in the US, will air new episodes in 2013.

While it will be the first time in five years first-run episodes have been produced but Netflix didn’t specify which original cast members might be returning or say how many new episodes were planned.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said,“Arrested Development is one of the finest American comedies in TV history and its return through Netflix is a perfect example of how we are working closely with studios and networks to provide consumers with entertainment they love.

After a reunion for the cast during the New Yorker Festival, Jason Bateman tweeted that the cast would do “10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13.”

This week Ron Howard also said, “It sounds a little bit corny but a lot of the reason the [cast and producers] want to do [the Arrested Development movie] is that they really feel like they want to respect what the fans are saying.

“Really, the fans have kept it going,” Howard added, “not only in terms of executives realising there’s a real yearning for more Arrested Development, but also to just keep encouraging the creative team and keep making it pressing.”

  1. Well the fact that the best comedy of the last 20 years (AD) and the best drama (Deadwood) have been cancelled before a 4th season, just shows the average person has no good taste whatsoever

  2. Like many show you can’t just judge it by the first ep, it took me a while to like the show back when it was on TV for the first time. I think it’s a show that grown on you.

Loads of great actors and smart writing, no wonder it was cancelled LOL

  3. @Jezza
People like to watch it because it is the smartest written comdey of all time, containing amazingly whitty dialogue, with the most brilliant characters performed by fantastic actors. Most critics will tell you that GOB, Tobias, Buster and Lucille are among the best sitcom characters ever conceived.

  4. One of the greatest comedies ever made. Dusted off Season 1 last night after hearing the “official” news… just never gets old. Just too long to wait until 2013.

  5. Watched the first four episodes becuase I’d heard everybody raving about it. It was a load of ….
Why do people find it entertaining? Its painful to watch

  6. Loved this show. The writing, esp dialogue, was really sharp and at a consistently high level throughout the series. The actors were all good but Michael Cera demonstrated comic timing beyond his 15 years.
