Discovery looking for Documentary proposals

Discovery is calling for documentary submissions from local Producers.

Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific is calling for documentary submissions from Producers for Discovery Ignite 2012, its local co-production initiative that was launched in 2007.

Programming proposals are sought in the following categories: Core Discovery; Turbo-Charged and Innovation.

Now in its sixth year Discovery Ignite aims to generate programming content from the Australian and New Zealand market.

Mandy Pattinson, senior vice president and general manager – Australia and New Zealand, DNAP, said, “We’re very excited about receiving submissions for the sixth round of Discovery Ignite, an initiative which has a long term goal to create innovative and local programs, extend relations with Australian and New Zealand filmmakers and develop our Australasian talent pool.

“The initiative also offers the opportunity to showcase the work of local documentary producers on the international scene with Discovery’s worldwide audience.”

Shortlisted projects will then be invited to pitch to DNAP at the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) in Adelaide in late February.

Previous titles include John Eales Reveals: Leaders in Rugby, Ultimate Fish: Barramundi. Ultimate Fish: Murray Cod will have its world premiere on Discovery Channel on Sunday December 11 at 7.30pm.
