Logie voting nears

Awards season is almost about to kick into gear with Logies voting set to begin soon.

Awards season is almost about to kick into gear with Logies voting set to begin soon.

Last year the TV Week Logies began voting on December 6th, in a bid to get things underway closer to the end of the ratings season.

If it follows the same model, voting should theoretically kick off two weeks from today.

Next year’s ceremony has also been brought forward by two weeks, to take place at Crown on Sunday April 15, the first day back after the Easter non-ratings period.

The event has traditionally been in May but the earlier staging makes sense for Nine to launch its post-Easter programming.

The all-new AACTA Awards, formerly known as the AFI Awards, will be staged at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday January 31, also broadcast by Nine.

Nominations will be announced next week, Wednesday November 30th.

And the annual TV Tonight Awards will kick off voting in early December once again!

  1. Everyone should vote for Queen of the shark jump, Jackie O. If she won it, it would be further proof, not that it’s needed, that this award is a complete and utter farce.

  2. There is only one of those three annual awards that I’m interested in.

@Anthony Mai – six (half a dozen) isn’t a strange number at all. Look at all the things that you can buy which come in groups of six. Plus it’s half a lap of a clock face, the number of hours that Rob Oakeshott’s maiden speech went for, the number of legs on my pet spider (it’s not well), the number of colours in a rainbow (Newton made indigo up), and the number of fingers on one hand.

  3. There better be no Karl Stefanovic crap this year! I’m not fond of novelty/campaign-based nominations!

I’ll be voting for Asher Keddie, for her contributions to TV this year: Offspring and Paper Giants.

I really hope the voting ballot is kept consistent / accountable. Too many mistakes/omissions over the years.

And about the number of Gold nominees, if they’re not keen on 8, I hope they just go back down to the traditional number 5, because 6 is just an strange number.

  4. The Gold Logie….if I was a tv celebrity who wanted to win this I would spend a few hundred dollars and outsource the bulk of my votes to a call centre in India. I would also persuade the network to chip in a few dollars more and hey presto I can go and collect my very own Gold Logie. Hiring a call centre for a short campaign would be worth every cent, as the award would last a life time.

Now if my popularity wasn’t so hot or I was perceived as a bit of a tosser, it may cost an extra few bucks…so be it.

Just floating ideas around of course
