Sarah Jessica Parker hearts The Project

Sarah Jessica Parker loved The Project so much, she very nearly bought the show.

The team from the panel could barely have asked for a better endorsement, but Sarah Jessica Parker was singing the praises of The Project last night.

Parker was a studio guest on the show on Thursday where she was asked about her new film and appearance at the Melbourne Cup carnival.

But having watched from the Green Room, Parker made a point of paying compliments to the TEN team Charlie Pickering, Carrie Bickmore, Dave Hughes and guest panelist Meshel Laurie.

“I think this show’s incredible,” she said.

“What I’m most impressed about is that you’re able to cover such a diverse range of topics in such a short time and it’s so smart and interesting and clever, and you all are such an interesting quartet.

“My To Do List is to rob this in some way,” she joked, “and to bring this in some way home to America as if I’ve thought of it and produce it for Americans!

“We’ll just dumb it down!”

Dave Hughes replied, “Well, you could take us with you.”

With its new one-hour format the endorsement was certainly well-timed.

Having Parker at the desk for a long chat certainly served them very well last night.

  1. The comparisons to KIm KarCashian are interesting. It just goes to show that celebrities that actually have talent outshine those talentless ones who are only famous for being famous.

  2. Not a huge fan of her work but I’ve always liked SJP and she comes across as a really nice person from the interviews I’ve seen her in – mostly on Letterman. Her and Matthew are a likeable couple. The interview was great and she got on well with the panel. Also loved her dumb it down comment!

  3. @Ghosting – I didn’t see this interview, but a lot of people have commented on how lovely she has been to interview over the last week. I hope that’s the case rather than her being fake as you suggest.

  4. SJP was a perfect guest for the show and I found her a delight have been a fan of hers since Girls Just Want to Have Fun. The interview was done well for all concerned, stick with this show Ten.

  5. Did anyone catch the look on her face when Carrie (Bickmore) started talking about the Kardashian news? SJP didn’t look too interested.

I loved the fact that with the new hour long Project they still ran out of time for a segment! LOL!

  6. She was great
Pity more people did not tune in as the hour does give then more time and still they have to drop stories as running over time
Hopefully they can run with good quests and not wisk them off over 1 segment
Hope TP lasts the year and next

  7. I have often been critical of this programmes content but it is always regarding seeming political bias of the panel.
I want to like it but I want a more apolitical overtone, if that was the case and it became purely an overview of the day’s advents then SJP would have been spot on with her assessment.

  8. Sarah Jessica Parker was good value last night , alot of americans can become introverted with this type of show. But she came through as a very likeable person and a good sense of humour.I enjoyed it.

  9. I think the one hour format is a good move for the show, but possibly not in that timeslot.
The worst thing TEN are doing next year is moving The Circle to 9am, where it will be under tougher competition. I am sure a lot of viewers check out Kerri-Anne and The Morning show, then by 10am like to switch to Circle, but now they have 3 shows all starting at the same time, they will have to dump one of their shows.

  10. Even though I don’t have much interest in the work of S-J P, she was a very good interview subject. She has the sort of personality that worked well on this type of show and she’s clever enough to understand Aussie humour. She is a bit self-deprecating which works well here and not afraid to take the mickey out of her fellow Americans.

  11. As I sat in the Green Room and watched the show being filmed in the next room, I thought to myself “This show is incredible, I must steal it”.

Meanwhile, across town Kim Kardashian was about to board her plane back to LA.

  12. I agree – I’ve never had that much time for SJP but she was delightful! She was very funny, very open in her discussions about her career and family – a certain Ms Kartrashian could learn many lessons from her – what a class act! I’m a new fan now!
