SBS will take a closer look at at Diversity and the Media in a televised forum, SBS CQ: Cultural Intelligence, later this month.

SBS CQ will bring together media commentators, experts and influencers to debate media and diversity for a forum to be broadcast on December 22. Hosted by World News Australia’s Anton Enus, the forum will discuss whether the media is friend or foe in the nation’s discussions about Diversity.

Participants will  include former Immigration Minister the Hon Amanda Vanstone, former Network 10 and 9 news directors and Daily Telegraph journalist Joe Hildebrand who will share the floor with community advocates and refugees including the Liberal candidate for Cabramatta Dai Le, Bahati Masudi from SBS’s Go Back To Where You Came From and Pino Migliorino from multicultural peak body FECCA as well as commentators and researchers including Julie Posetti, Ien Ang, Tanveer Ahmed, Ghassan Hage and Andrew Markus.

Today it launched www.sbs.com.au/cq which will become a permanent hub for views, news and research about Diversity. It features exclusive interviews with key thinkers and commentators as well as resources including SBS’s research into Australian attitudes towards immigration, refugees and asylum seekers.

“SBS will use its expertise as a broadcaster and thought leader on Diversity to provide new perspectives on long-standing debates about multiculturalism,” SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid said.

“SBS is the catalyst for the national discussion about Diversity and SBS CQ will become a conversation series as well as a permanent resource.”

Good to see this topic getting a workout although the title and timeslot aren’t particularly ideal.

SBS CQ: Cultural Intelligence will air on December 22, SBS TWO 8.30pm and on online at www.sbs.com.au/cq.

  1. I wanna see this, but Joe Hildebrand is such a smart a*se. He’s the only one that sometimes makes The Drum unwatchable.

    Sedi, that’s Tanveer Ahmed pictured.

  2. Isn’t the man in the picture the person who said ‘nnoooo bingo!’ on national bingo night? Yet he was totally faking the OTT accent? Hopefully he can teach a thing or two about diversity in the media after That performance.
