Next week ABC1 begins a six-part mockumentary The Trip featuring British comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon touring Britain’s Lake District, reviewing restaurants for a Sunday newspaper.
Steve is commissioned to review six north England restaurants which he plans to do with his American food-loving girlfriend. But she leaves him, returning to the States, so he reluctantly asks Rob – the only person he knows who would be available – to join him, rather than face six nights of meals for one.
They begin their trip at the Inn at Whitewell in the beautiful Trough of Bowland, where a booking mix-up means they have to share a room.
10:05pm Wednesday, 14 December ABC1.

As with a lot of good or potentially good shows, they are usually shown at some ungodly hour. Why is this?Is it another aspect of the nanny state?
One of my favourites of the year.
Uncle Brin and Alan Partridge on a road trip together ? , yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Got the DVD. V low key but a lot of fun.
i’d heard good things about this too and had been considering buying the dvd all year, waiting for abc or someone to screen it
Yep, watched the film version a couple of weeks ago and was absolutely brilliant.
This ticks all the boxes for me so I’ll book this one in.
One of the best shows I watched in 2011, superbly shot and acted and 2 of my all time favourite comedy actors. 10/10
This is really really great – make sure you don’t miss it – It was “in-flight” entertainment on a recent holiday flight , and we had people looking at us asking us what we were watching as we were laughing so much…
The film version of this, released in cinemas here earlier this year, was the funniest thing I have seen in years. I’ve been too lazy to buy the DVD.
