What should we make of Nine’s new logo for its Perth news bulletin?
In the last few days it switched from blue to red and dropped the famous 9 dots.
Is it a sign of more changes for Bruce Gordon’s WIN Network?
WIN was yet to clarify after being asked by TV Tonight.

i don’t care what colour their graphics are . i watch channel nine news every night.
I see people in sydney & melbourne watch nine news.
People in perth should wake up nine is just as good.
As said by many – too channel 7. If nine really wanted to mix things up they need to change their logo entirely.
If Bruce buys Nine from the bankers his razor gang will be working overtime.
Very Seven-ish.
Perhaps the balls are on the Christmas tree?
It’s definitely a strange break from what should be their common design element in affiliate branding.
The funny thing is, it’s the dated figure 9 they should be dropping, and retaining (or be it perhaps tweaking) the dots.
Do not even think of Bruce buying Nine East Coast. I will not have it. It would be awful- red Nines everywhere.
Arrrrgghhhh!
Ahh Win tampering with the logo when really they should be focusing on improving the hammering in the ratings they cop from 7 each day in Perth and Adelaide. They really are pathetic.
If Bruce purchases the Nine Network, could he do the same in the east? This could be a bad sign for not only Nine Perth, but the rest of Nine in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Darwin.
A friend of mine was watching Nine Perth last night and the WIN logo made an appearance…
Haven’t watched channel nine since the rugby and not likely to again for quite a while, so I wouldn’t have known about this for a long time and, frankly, don’t care, but it is horrible.
I just assumed they were trying to be Christmassy.
Maybe they think because 7 is red and they rate if they change their logo to red they might also rate
Noticed the bizarre change in Perth this week.
Forget about fiddling with the logo, work on the product!
What a mish-mash of identity this network presents.
It’s a shame that penny-pinching WIN in both Perth and Adelaide create the impression that nationally the Nine network is in such a bad way.
Cut them loose from the east coast and see how they do on their own- after all, WIN has threatened to ‘take its toys and go home’ in the past.
The sooner Bermuda HQ change the branding of NWS and STW to WIN branding the better. They may as well go with fulltime amateur branding, production, presentation and programming/promotion so not to sully the Nine brand by leaving professional TV station operation(s) to Nine Ent Co. stations in the east.
WIN is a disgrace…
Same with Nine News Adelaide! Not on the bottom right corner but on that giant plasma behind Kate Collins!
2 years ago I predicted Bruce will pick up the rest of the 9 Network by the end of 2011 and Murdoch would own 10.
Time will tell…
i’d rather the dots. maybe its just me ? 🙂
Not just for the watermark either.. they had it full blown on the graphic behind the presenter… it looked horrible.
Is that Bruce Gordon reading the news? Looks like him.
Bruce resisted using the spotty 9 logo for a long time on NWS9 and STW9.
Red is no good. Too Seven-ish.
I hope they managed to match the pantone colour of the rival 7 logo correctly. Otherwise they may not recieve the huge boost in ratings that this logo switch must surely bring. I shall be scanning the ratings with bated eyes.
Channel 9 losing it’s balls again?
Copying Seven’s red logo?
Yuck! Worse than Eddie’s attempts a few years ago. Nine can only be 9 with the nine dots. This looks also to be risky for plasma burn as well. Simply horrible, no wonder my western cousins adore Seven with Rick and Sue!
