Ross Dagan, Channel TEN’s Sydney news chief, is set to become TVNZ’s Head of News and Current Affairs, filling the position vacated by Anthony Flannery who has been appointed Head of News for TEN.

The NZ Herald reports an announcement is expected to confirm that Dagan will start in March, though TVNZ declined to confirm the appointment.

Dagan has been Director of News for TEN in Sydney since 2009 and held a similar role in Brisbane before January 2008.

From January 2006 to December 2007, he was programme editor for Al Jazeera English-language operations.

  1. Anthony Flannery has a huge job ahead of him. Ten News is a shambles at the moment. The 1.5hrs from 5pm is far too long. They need to go back to an hour bulletin and bring back the Late News with Sandra Sully. With a regular 10:30pm time slot & a news bulletin with News rather than 3/4 of it being sport, they would be a on a real winner.

The Ten News shake up of 2011 did nothing but knock the foundations out of the network.
