Who will join The Circle?

There's just over a week to go before The Circle returns to TEN with a new season, minus two of its cast members.

There’s just over a week to go before The Circle returns to TEN with a new season, minus two of its cast members.

In November Denise Drysdale retired (somehow I doubt she will ever actually retire) and Chrissie Swan quit in December to focus on radio and family. Her resignation was a late surprise to TEN, but it allows her to spend more time with family, especially as she has a second child.

So who will be joining remaining hosts Yumi Stynes and Gorgi Coghlan?

So far the rumour mill has included Julia Morris, Jane Kennedy and even Livinia Nixon. Thankfully the show has no shortage of guest hosts who have all had on-air experience.

The Circle returns on Monday January 16 at its new time of 9am, with an extra half hour ending at 11:30am.

  1. Somethings not right here. why did chrissie really leave. sure, she has a family and all that but so has others (e.g kate Lambroek) and they work weird shifts. I just get the feeling more is going on. Why would she leave. Nominated for a gold logie last year and its a good gig. mhhm

  2. I am surprised no one mentioned Jackie O.

Oops, forgot Kiss Of Death and Kyle tag along with her.
I can hope that TV programmers and execs think before they act.

  3. No female sports stars! I hate them, why do they get given all these roles? People like Elka Whalan, Giann Rooney etc..

Also with Collette Mann, did they even get along with her? most of the time she was on Chrissie was off and I dont think it was a coincidence.. Numerous times Ive seen the girls roll their eyes over Collettes comments and she even reads out viewers emails and makes fun of them. Cause thats a way to connect to your audience.

  4. Kate Langbroek! Kate Langbroek! Kate Langbroek!!

Every year I still dream The Panel with return but since I know it never will I can settle for Kate on The Circle.. at least permanently a few days a week. I remember somone saying that because she already does radio in the morning .. she wouldn’t want the extra work seeing as though she has a large family. Umm large family = large bills. Anyone is available for the right price.

Oh and TEN had better hang on to Yumi going forward. Hang on to her for a long time…

  5. Swan exiting was a huge loss for the show. My money is on Jane Hall. Most likely candidate. I’m assuming she’s available and she’s the strongest personality out of the guest hosts.

  6. @Beni i like Alicia. I think she would be a good fit. Plus she’s familiar with everyone.

Not a fan of Em Rusciano who is sometimes on The Project and guest hosted one show.

  7. They really have to go with a funny girl to relace Denise and Chrissie. Julia Morris is the obvious. Whoever gets the gig will have big shoes to fill. To lose two of their stars will hurt this show. The reason why it worked was because of the chemistry between the girls. Some of the humour was pretty wicked for that time of day. They should let the original girls cut loose on a prime time saturday night variety show. Who needs Norton when you have original talent in your own backyard.

  8. The Circle will no doubt suffer without Chrissie – she is an amazing talent! Yumi is good but without Chrissie she may suffer… I agree that Jane Hall is annoying, and thinks she is much funnier and entertaining than she actually is.

  9. i hope its not jane hall, she gets on my nerves.

i hope its julia morris and they just have an alternate for denise’s position (mind you they’re all off at some point each week, it seems!)

  10. Although I am always at work when ‘The Circle’ is on, the few times I have been home and watched it, I have loved watching Chrissie. She is so warm, down to earth and has a wicked laugh. One of the easiest people to watch on TV. I’m happy she has found something that suits her family life better, but I will genuinely miss seeing her on my TV next time I am home sick.

  11. Colette Mann seems an obvious choice to maintain the balance. The two Janes are not that exciting. Julia Morris would be interesting but probably too strong a personality for the other two. I actually think one of our golden sporting girls would be interesting – there are plenty to choose from!

  12. so does that make ‘The Circle’ the morning show that is going to rivial 7 and the new one on 9??…or are they still going to do a morning show and push the Circle back to 11am?
