Nine News will now air in Fiji twice a day after a deal was reached with Mai TV Fiji.
Mai TV, which already shows TVNZ, Al Jazeera, Fiji News, Australia Network News, has had trials with Nine, managing to by-pass high satellite costs by using an automated file transfer protocol system on the internet.
This enables Mai TV to import large files from Sydney within 10 minutes of the Live broadcast in Australia.
“We are happy to be finally showing their news package in Fiji,” Mai TV general manager David Hotchin told Fiji Times.
Nine News will air at 11.15pm and is repeated at 1pm.

“…and is repeated at 1pm”. Nothing quite as exciting as yesterday’s news. Considering it was all covered on Australia Network 24 hours previously.
