Alex O’Loughlin will miss at least one episode of Hawaii Five-0 after it was revealed he would spend a stint in rehab.

“Alex is taking a short break from Hawaii Five-0 to receive supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury,” a representative said in a statement.

After the episode wraps the show will take a short break, after which production will return to complete its 23-episode season.

“We respect and support Alex’s decision,” CBS Studios, which produces the series, said. “Everyone at CBS Television Studios and Hawaii Five-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return.”

  1. @Jennome – Charles Mesure is the actor who has joined Desperate Housewives. Like many other Aussie actors working o/s, he grew up here and trained at NIDA but actually was born in the UK. The Aussie accent is the real deal though!

  2. Yet another actor with a painkillers addiction. Couldnt they have given him a non drug agent to help him with the pain. This is exactly how Micheal Jackson got hooked and later subsequently died.

  4. I wonder why it’s rarely mentioned that Alex is Australian – or don’t we fuss about this anymore? Once upon a time an Australian actor would never be mentioned in despatches without a reminder that they are Australian!

    I note an Aussie has popped up in Desperate Housewives, but haven’t watched it closely enough to see if he’s actually cast as an Aussie, or just a cast member who happens to have an Aussie accent!
