  1. Maev....Sydney

@ nik c ….I do not know how you can say shame 7TWO…..appears to be a good programming move….with those numbers..all 3 episodes in the top 20….it shows people are watching and are quite happy with the status quo.

  2. code warfare bahahaha

to say that NRL and AFL should be compared apples for apples is just silly

NRL has one team outside QLD and NSW. Melbourne Storm is building from a very low base. Tiny membership and crowds, but it has a base to build on which will eventually lead to decent tv exposure.

AFL is truly national, with at least 2 teams in every state except Tassie which has Hawthorn playing 4 games a year there. Swans get mostly small tv audiences as well, but has a much stronger base to grow then Storm with good crowds and high membership.

WIN are obviously not going to get anything out of putting on something they didn’t produce and that won’t rate in Adelaide and Perth – so you could hardly blame them for not putting NRL on!

  3. easygoing777

hey Darcy to me there is more actualy Rugby in 1 NRL game than the entire round of Super 15 16 17,and more tries as well not a field goal and penalty fest and did the ref have a bad day as he seems to be the center of attention in Rugger

  4. easygoing777

The Warriors vs Manly game was on at 9am on a long weekend, the newspapers both said it was on at 2am Monday morning.
There was no notice that it was on unless you looked at a League oriented website, considering 9 has studiously avoided Rugby League before midnight, and you cant even get the scores off the ABC news at 7 in its so called sports roundup.
AFL in Sydney is constantly flogged on TV and in the Papers but the AFL still has to prop the clubs in Sydney and Brisbane up with money.
But they dont rate a jot,League in Perth got about a quarter of the publicity that AFL in Sydney gets things would be a lot different, but League will get there.
Without the NRL rules being doctored and tweaked to make the implants look good,ie bribe your way to the top like the AFL

  5. 2.3pt win and Nine had a Cricket final and NRL… Seven also have AFL and MKR coming to Sundays. Ten only getting 13.8 for its primary channel supposedly on a “Super” night. The lack of competition is obviously due to difficulties of the owners at Nine and lack of leadership at Ten. A lack of competition = crap tv.

  6. Bogues I found an article to illustrate my point regarding the Swans. 49K in Sydney after 30 years thepunch.com.au/articles/the-swans-are-getting-slaughtered-on-television/

  7. Wow those ratings for the rugby in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne are just awful. Don’t think Nine will be going live for the rugby anytime soon! David do you have the Clipsal 500 ratings? Cheers

  8. 10 must be happy with the demographics for Sunday.
Shame 7two are being rewarded with high ratings for repeats as well as new material of Escape to the Country.
