TV Tonight wins “People’s Choice” Award in Best Australian Blogs

Thank you!!! TV Tonight has won the People's Choice Award in the Best Australian Blogs 2012 Competition.

Thank you!!!!

TV Tonight has won the People’s Choice Award in the Best Australian Blogs 2012 Competition.

The competitive category saw 941 blogs competing in The People’s Choice round in the awards run by the Sydney Writers’ Centre.

This is the first time my blog has won any accolade since I launched the site 5 years ago. I’m absolutely stoked with the result and I really appreciate everyone who took the time to vote for me.

As you know this site has been about passion for Television in all its glory: Australian content, when it’s great, when it isn’t, when we deserve better, feature interviews with talent and creative, breaking the scoops, staying on top of those pesky programme changes, keeping the networks honest, serving as a go-between audience and networks, taking readers behind the scenes……..

There are now over 20,000 posts on the site and over 250,000 comments. The site now averages over 380,000 unique viewers and 1.7m page views per month -and remains completely independent.

Yes it is a punishing schedule for a solo blog. I think by now most of you know I attend to the site every day of the year, including on my holidays (my friends keep telling me off). But knowing that the site has an effect and is so appreciated is what drives me.

A total of 17,250 people voted in the People’s Choice Awards with TV Tonight receiving 785 votes, just 16 votes ahead of the runner up. Phew!

I’d like to thank the Sydney Writers’ Centre and acknowledge my web designer David McDonald, the publicists who I deal with on a daily basis (especially when I am asking those questions you wish I wasn’t!), but most especially I would like to thank you all for remaining so damned loyal. You guys rock!

Cheers,

David Knox.

  1. Congratulations David! Thoroughly deserved, your passion for TV, warts and all, shines through. You’ll be able to swap that nominee badge out for a winner’s one now.

    1. Thanks everyone! Feel like singing “Shower The People” still in my head…. getting lots of nice emails from TV folk too. But it’s just another day here in the remote office… now dashing off to the INPUT Conference in Sydney. Could have done without delayed ratings today!

  2. Big Congratulations are definitely in order. I love this site and is my first destination when wanting to find out about TV offerings. In fact the first thing I do every morning is open my 2 work sites and TVTonight, these 3 stay open all day. You definitely deserve this.

  3. i voted for you! this site has been a huge help to me in my career to date and i don’t know a working day has gone by in the last 4 years where i haven’t checked it!

  4. Congratulations! You really deserve this. TVTonight is a way of life for many of the familiar names I see posting here on a regular basis – an opportunity to discuss and debate every aspect of a medium we all love – thank you for providing such a classy forum. Totally awesome!

  6. Congrats David! Your website is a way of life and it is well over due for your astounding work to be recognised. Keep up the great work! P.S. hire an understudy so you can atleast have your holidays off =p.

  7. Surely your site averages more than “380 unique viewers” a month, otherwise those viewers must visit your site thousands of times! Judging by how often I visit TV Tonight, that could be true though! 🙂

    Well done!

  8. Well deserved David!! This blog is awesome,

I’m still trying to work out if there’s a way I could channel my passion for TV into a career…
