US sci-fi series Falling Skies has been renewed for a third season.

Cable network TNT has ordered 10 more episodes of the Steven Spielberg-produced series, to premiere in the US summer of 2013.

This season in the US the show has averaged roughly 4 million viewers per episode.

“Falling Skies is television storytelling at its very best, a powerful drama that’s told on both an epic scale and on a deeply personal level,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT.

“With all the memorable and surprising moments taking place during the second season of Falling Skies, we can’t wait to see what DreamWorks Television and Falling Skies’ terrific production team and cast members have in store for season three.”

Season Two is currently screening in Australia on Foxtel.

  1. I’m surprised to see this renewed, I struggled through the first season and gave up after the first episode of the second. I’m with you Dayman, it’s very cheesy and seemingly aimed at christian families, which is not your usual Sci Fi audience. Sci Fi TV has really lost its way. In my mind it peaked with BSG and has gone seriously downhill since then.

  2. Like Grimm, The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, Eastbound and Down, thank the stars this is on Foxtel in HD with DD5.1 and not the blurry mess that is FTA

  3. I watched the first few episodes. It was fine but nothing to make me come back. Is it worth revisiting?

One of my problems was, some aspects were so cheesy and dumb. Especially the end of the world, post apocalyptic world and kids all patriotic in school.

Was a bit too same, clean and unrealistic.

  4. A brilliant TV series that seemlessly integrates strong personal relationships with an alien invasion causing a fight for survival. Steven Spielberg is a genius and anything with his name on it deserves to be watched (with another great example being Smash which was shown on W and is now being shown on Seven for all of Australia to see).
